Due to Harley fever I built a few Harleys the last few years and my jeep has sat- literally. Wrapped up the last of my bike projects, and since my idle hands tend to turn to evil I dusted off the old XJ and got her running nice n smooth once again. Switched out the steering with a Currie system and replaced the stabilizer shock with a Rubicon. Put a drop pitman in also and the steering is great once again. Aligned the front end and put some fresh rubber on her and now I'm itching for some rock crawlin' at Johnson Valley this weekend.
Any So Cali's wanna meet up?

Ordered a RockHard cage- 2 weeks till delivery and another week for powdercoat.
In the meantime I have an oil leak to find.......
Looking into some lockers- since this isn't a daily driver I'm leaning towards Detroit lockers front n back. Prolly replace axles as well

Got my Aussie Lockers for the front installed- overall not really a difficult job, but getting the axles apart took some time! The hubs were rusted on the steering knuckle and took some "persuasion" to get off!
Next week I'll be installing a Detroit Locker in the rear- I'm thinking compared to the front it will be an easier install
Still waiting on the rack I ordered from ROCKHARD 3 weeks ago......

Looking forward to doing some climbing this weekend

Happy to say on Friday a mysterious pallet arrived at my shop- inside? One RockHard cage. Thank you RockHard for the delivery. Bends look nice and welds are clean- i'll dry fit it this week then send it to get powdercoated

Had a camping date this weekend with Ugly- we took another run up Miller Jeep Trail since last run was pre-lockers in front and a great trail to gauge the Aussie Lockers on. MJT is in National Forest and maintained by local jeep clubs. It's rated a "most difficult" trail with plenty of rock gardens and some on pretty steep climbs. It's a fun do-able trail that challenges. Last time Ugly took it head on and did quite well, but I must say with those Aussie Lockers she climbed absolutely awesome. I picked some pretty nasty lines in a few sections on purpose and it was butter. Looking very forward to adding the Dettroit locker this week to the Mopar 8.25 in back.
First pic is towards the start of Lockwood trail. You can see the MJT up in the distance
Last pic is from almost the top of MJT looking back
