JB's ugly (not no mo) XJ build
Personally I never turned my head when a jeep went by. Something changed. Maybe I was bit by a spider like Peter Parker, but I started to notice jeeps more and more (can't make spiderwebs tho). Long story short, here I am the proud new owner of an old 200K mile 95 Cherokee XJ Sport 4x4 and i'm foaming at the mouth to take it apart. I attached a pic of the lovely lady the day I bought her. Errrrr......
So the first day I sat down and ordered a Rubicon 4.5" super flex short arm kit. New rear leafs. Bilstein shocks and a roof rack. My knuckles are bleeding already just thinking of it........
I just replaced the plugs wires rotor n cap and my gosh I think they were factory. She runs much better. I'm impressed by the 4.0 so far.
Looking forward to sharing my build with you guys and getting lots of tips and "borrowing" some ideas.
Peace

spray all the bolts that will be removed with pb blaster every day from now til you install the lift, and get a map gas torch to heat up all the nuts on the bolts that you can, heat is a life saver when working on a jeep, also be prepared for the rear upper shockbolts to break, im not sure on the older body style but on my 98 we snapped all the bolts, took and airhammer and punched the bolts and the captive nuts out and fished in new bolts with a magnet. Good luck with the build!!!

Spent some time cleaning up the engine compartment & undercarriage over the weekend. The tune up and new fluids did her good too. She's purring like a kitten.
Also got a delivery today- looks like most of the lift is here but stops and leveling kit on back order. I'm off to Sacramento for work for a few days and looks like I have plans for the weekend!!

Tear Down
This afternoons mission was to get the old suspension off the front end. I extremely smooth- i'm worried about that! Picking up the balance of the lift on the am and should have the front back together by the evening.

Good start. You're making fast progress. 4.5" is a good height to go with. What size tire are you looking to run? Take a ton a photo's.
Keep up the good work.

Being self employed sometimes gets in the way of personal projects so the jeep sits with her rear end in the air waiting on me. Full weekend is planned for me already too so thats out.
Damn sleep gets in the way of getting more done.

Got the lift in- 4.5" Rubicon super-flex
Can't drive her though because the rear driveshaft is binding. I knew it wouldn't be setting at a good angle but it's flopping bad.

Rolled into 4-Wheel Parts yesterday afternoon and picked up a SYE. Prboably get it installed this week then measure up for a CV driveshaft.
The guy at 4WP suggested having the driveshaft measured and made over buying a premanufactured. I'm sure a custom will fit perfect but is it necesarry? More $$$$
