To be blatantly honest, that is not a high school budget (well, what was your "high school budget"?). I'm in high school and I have a full on retro (that's how it came originally) 1989 XJ Limited which my grandparents bought new back in the day and I got passed down to my parents than me so it has 180k miles now (rarely ever see them anymore and never in my stock color) and it had been sitting in my garage collecting dust for the past 3-4 years (my parents kept it just so it would be my first vehicle) because we didn't has the funds to get it running and road worthy again and after a long time of saving up I had $2200 to use to fix it up and my dads mechanic is also his friend and has an '89 XJ that he cut right down the middle and made it 3 feet wider (why? Because he was bored) and dropped a V8 in it and used to host a jeep club so he really knows his **** and is mentoring me now, but I didn't know enough to get it road worthy again so I let him fix it up (just enough to be road worthy, not near new condition) and the estimate was $2,000 but since he wanted to make sure I had leftover money to pay for gas and future parts that need replacing, the total fix cost was $1411 and I just got it back a few weeks ago. But I only have $200 left because of stupid gas prices and an impressive 10 mpg. He's going to teach me how to fabricate and weld on a CJ5 that he's restoring for a client so I will be able to build my own bumpers and stuff but I have more that I want to do which start off with restoring the paint because it's heavily oxidized (doing that right now and it's a painfully slow process but it's working) and the tires that are currently on it are practically bald and were installed before 2000 so they are cracked a lot (just enough to sort of keep tire pressure up) so they will need to be replaced before the rainy season, but alas, I cannot afford the replacement tires yet. I'm going to be little bits in pieces here and there over the next few months until I can buy more pricey additions. I haven't seen anyone with the same exact year and model in the stock paint job and vinyl pattern that it has (it's so rare I can't even find the original specs the dealers of my model would have when it was new back in '89) so it's definitely a gem, a gem that still needs to be recut but a gem. It's going to be a journey to get it were I want it and I want to give it to one of my kids in the future. But a jeep back from the dead, cool concept huh? Well that's my Jeeps case, and full backstory
(Also, how did you program the keyless entry remote? Mine was lost but i dint know you could reprogram a new one without having the original one)
The yellow XJ (which he is selling for $15k if anyone's interested. That much because it's one-of-a-kind) and the silver KK are his Jeeps that he customized and the XJ with the gold wheels is mine (literally took that pic within 10 minutes of bringing it back home for the first time).

Mine is an aftermarket system so I called the company that makes it and they told me how to do it.

Well today I took my jeep to the shop for my 3rd problem with the fuel pump (first time I needed a new pump, second time needed another new pump which was covered under warranty, and this time the seal was bad again under warranty) which means I've been dumping gas out of my tank for a couple weeks or so. Kinda mad but I'm glad I got it fixed. And a few days ago I replaced my cracked exhaust manifold. It had 2 cracks. Took the majority of the day, but saved tons of money over having someone fix it. Not really hard just time consuming. And now I'm waiting on my new rear bumper to come in and I'm broke from the surprise repairs.

So I just put a sye in today. I used a front driveshaft for the rear and I was wondering if there was enough splines or if I should get a longer shaft for the rear, thanks

Diy sway bar disconnects just gotta figure out the interference with the bumper bolt and the sway bar and it'll be good. Feels a lot more solid around turns than the soft rubber bushings.

Figured out the bumper bolt interference. Took out the washer and ground down the head some. Installed a powertrax no slip locker today. Hoping to go to gulches this weekend and test it out.
