Default function over fashion

This is my build up of my 1990 Cherokee , it will not be pretty, there will be lots of redneck ingenuity , failures , beer and shenanigans - as a friend of mine always says , ' half a$$ is better than no a$$

to start this off properly ill give you a quick run threw on how this got started , back when I was in high school m one of my friends had a Cherokee ,we took that thing every where and back it was so much fun I had to have one , so $500 I got one , it mostly sat around got some parts here and there , my dreams for it were more than my check book could handle and after getting in some trouble with Johnny law I gave it away to a friend ( who actually finished it and still wheels it ) I then moved to Texas for about 4 years because of work , and finally have moved back to the middle Tennessee area where I belong , although I work in Kentucky currently I get to come home every weekend and enjoy being home. About a month ago I came across this jeep on craigslist and I knew I had to have it to finally finish my old jeep project , with the help of friends, mentors and good old fashion know how we got started
So without further delay ...

Tow rig on the way to go get the new jeep.
We had driven down the week before to go look at it to find out it was not road worthy so we hooked up the trailer and headed off

After returning from getting the jeep we sat down to do some thinking and fishing, after our livers were good and soaked we had a plan

Although I don't have any pictures for that night I can say it was a great success until the fuel pump died leaving us stranded in a mud hole about a 4 mile walk back to the house , the next day really was the beginning of this jeep project for me , having brought nothing but a vice grip and a crescent wrench a roll of wire my mustangs 9psi fuel pump and some extra fuel hose we had laying around we managed to remove the fuel tank with a 2x4 that was laying up against a fence post , we dropped the tank removed the old pump and started running new lines and wires , it worked just enough to get it back up out of the mud hole and onto the trailer

As I said we did this all with almost nothing but a few simple tools and some know how
And that got me thinking , I wanted to make everything on the jeep simple to fix with almost nothing , take out everything we didn't need and everything we would need for a trip would be in the back. I wanted the jeep to be 100% self sufficient , even though it was going to be a trailer only I didn't want to have to go back to the truck every time something happened , and that's how project 'Function over Fashion' was born , I should also say that I absolutely hate jeeps with 20 inch wheels and mud tires that are clean enough to eat off of , what the hell did you buy a jeep if you wanted a show piece , if it doesn't have mud and dents it doesn't make much sense to me.

not my picture

After finally getting the jeep back home I needed to make a new fuel system for it so I hit the internet for ideas , I liked this one and it seamed to fit what I needed , until I tied to fit the cooler and several ammo cans in the back I found out just how little room there was back there so I came up with a different plan of attack and keeping with my cheap and easy to fix theme I think it will work best

10 galloon air tank I had laying around to use as the fuel tank

from summit racing

ill have to get a picture of the fuel tank completed when I get back home this weekend but it works quite well , how ever I think my fuel pressure regulator is failing , its hard to start even with the new fuel pump but started decent with the old one , the new pump is a bit higher pressure but not much ill have to check out the pressures and stuff this weekend
im wondering if its that the pcm doesn't know that its getting fuel pressure because im not using the factory wiring for the pump
