Cop Jeep to Wheeler
Decided I would do one of these for 1998 XJ.
I bought it in Feb of 2004 from the State of Arizona surplus Property auction.
It was formerly an Arizona DPS (HWY Patrol) vehicle and from the service records looks like it spent most of its time in Mohave county(NW part of the state)
When I got it, it was bone stock, 4.0L Auto, and 242 TC, had a D35 rear axle, ABS, Full factory skids, power windows and locks, all the gauges, but thats about it. No cruise, cloth front seats with a vinyl rear seat, missing center console, lots of random wiring, misc brackets in the interior, No Carpet, just a vinyl mat (which I love) oh and the ext idle button. It ran great for have 135k when I got it.
1st Day picture, can still see the residue where they removed the decals.
this was about 2 months later I had done a 2" BB and got some used BFGs measured somewhere around 29" tall, Figure once those wore out I would get 30s and be done with it.
Was bitten by the bug at that point. Went with the 30s, but also got a Rusty's 3" lift, JKS disconnects and was really having fun at this point.
After a while I got some rims, added 3/4" spacers up front and shackles in the rear. Got some Hella 500s, started trimming some, C4x4 rails and the roof rack.
Ran it like this for a while until...

I needed more, swamped out the rear D35 for a Crysler 8.25 29 spline with 4:10 gears and had a Detroit Locker installed. Of course 4:10s up front in the D30. Oh and 32" BFG MTs
Upgraded the Lift to a Rubicon Express 3.5" kept the 3/4" spacers and shackles, RE adjustable track bar, warn D30 Skid up front, rocky road Rear diff skid.
Snow on Sunflower Mine Loop.
Got a custom swith panel to run my lights, it works great and looks awesome, got it from here http://gaugeplates.com/
Most recentl, have upraded to a Curry Steering system, C-ROK Steering brace, done some more trimming, removal of unneeded panels, and switched to an Iron Rock HD track bar and bracket.
Most recent picture with Saguaro lake in the back ground.

That is a good xj! Like the switchpanel too. Cool idea, I was thinking about making a custom one to go up on the celing of my xj where the remote entry sensor is; but now that i see yours . . . . . .

Awesome rig! I'm planning on going to 4.10's front and rear and locking up the rear too. I'm even more excited about those plans now that I see how great your rig wheels! Love those diff skids also, may have to grab a set of those.
