Got a glow plug controller, two sets of glow plugs, and an extra/spare set of rockers. Shipping from England was surprisingly quick lol.

Yay. Gotta install this and then all I'm waiting on is the injection pump.

Glad to see you can still get plenty of parts for these engines. Hope to see it running soon!

Gotta call Miller tomorrow and probably go pick the pump up. They said they were calibrating it on Friday, so should be done tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

And yeah, it's surprising what rock auto has lmao

You have to look on RockAuto- UK/Europe and Renault Espace or Trafic. They also cane with the same engine. The longblock is the same, some of the accessories for packaging are different.

Pump should hopefully be done tomorrow. They found an issue with internal alignment and have to tear it apart again.

Glad they're taking the time to make sure it's done right though. Hoping to get at least another 150-200k miles out of this rebuild. Lol.

Just picked up the injection pump. Miller said they got it all figured out and within spec. All that's left to to is put the pump back in. After I do the starter, motor mounts, and glowplugs... Lol

Still waiting for the starter to be rebuilt... The new starter I got is slightly wrong unfortunately.

Found one that looks like its the correct one. Only problem is that it's $400.... Oh boy. Lol. Progress has been slow because of this.

But I will have diesel XJ back on the road soon and hopefully be driving it for many more miles. Lol

I just power read the whole thread. Good luck with such an interesting old XJ. The difficulty of diesel and tracking down spare parts might get to me though, but I was tempted. Here's a couple I found in case someone is interested. Boy, they do command a premium!

1987 Comanche Diesel: http://desmoines.craigslist.org/cto/4774522903.html

1985 Cherokee Diesel (from the one picture it looks awesome but $6500?!): http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/4772146198.html

Really cool to learn some new XJ info! Thanks!

Yeah lol. It was a 5k premium option back in the day... Lol. My Cherokee Chief cost like 18k brand new which is 35-40k in today's money.

Btw, they took the starter apart.... Completely shot. Not repairable because it would cost more than a new one. Ordering that $400 starter. Lol.

Sorry to hear about the starter. Hopefully you got the starter in and everything is running smoothly again?
