2 JEEP BUILDS INTO 1 THREAD!!!

So start out by saying I've owned 3 Jeeps so far, Well kinda fell off jeep wagon for a while to buy my First Gen Cummins and built it up. Well now that I got my tow pig which has taken a good bit of my money, I got the urge to buy another jeep to go wheelin in after going with a couple buddys. So being on a budget I lucked up bought this heep from a coworker that lost interest in it but still didn't wanna sell it, but after bugging him about, he finally let me get it. So my goal is, to built this Jeep for a $1000 bucks. Its a 1987 Jeep Cherokee 4 cylinder 4 speed. Jeep itself cost $300 and goal is to lift, wheels and tires, and paint. which leaves me $700 left. Can it be done? Will see. But I plan on welding front and rear, doing a posi lock up front. and make a fun little rig to get me back and fourth to work this winter, because I damnn sure and gonna be scuffin the 20's on the dodge lol. First picture is when previous owner first bought it. When I bought it has of yesterday 8/11/15 had no hatch on it, no rear doors, and every panel on the jeep (interior) was bundled together in the back hatch laying their. So this week ima try to go ahead and install all the interior and atleast try to get it all back together.

Looks to be pretty straight, looking forward to seeing how this ultra low budget rig turns out.
That Dodge is beautiful! More pics/specs?

Look like a good start.

You should be able to get some ZJ front springs and rear leaf springs from a S10 to build ur own for less than $100 at a junk yard. Might need to get new brake lines but no sure the price of those.

"plan on welding front and rear, doing a posi lock up front."

Which is it? Personally I've always wanted to do this.

I'd go ZJ springs, 2" front pucks, s-10 pack rear, 29spline 8.25, weld the rear, Leave the front open, cut the hell out of the fenders, run 33s....

You should be able to do all that for under $500.

When I say posi lock I mean Im getting rid of the vaccume disco and doing a posi lock so once I weld the front diff, I can pull the lever to have both front tires locked, but I can still unlock it and only have one tires pulling for when Im in trails and such. Im also more set on 31's because Im not trying to put bigger tires than the 4 cylinder can handle. Ill get some pictures uploaded today....

I began bed lining the rest of the floorpans and while Im at it, since the rear doors are already off, im going to do a removable doors. I have a set of 8 lug 16.5 wheels and 37's im going to try and trade for a set of wheels and tires for a cherokee because that will tremendously help out my budget.
Im also adding every little penny to this build. just to see how close I can go to the $1000 dollar budget. Plus working at Advance Auto I can get a discount on alot of goods also.

Money Spent
Brushes for bedliner (still have bedliner left over from my last project): $2.97
3 cans of spray can bedliner: $24.57
Pans to pour bedliner into: $1.06
Total so far====$28.60

So pretty much at a stand still after today. I got all more doors on and and while I was doing that I took it apon myself to make REMOVABLE DOOR MOD....... Also got my door panel black instead of that horrible yellow or whatever you wanna call it.

So reason the previous owner (my coworker) stopped driving the jeep was the clutch master cylinder went out again. Well found out today he must of not bleed it all the way cuz guess what... The clutch works great after sitting for 3 years lol. I guess it finally self bled itself. Only thing that stopping me from getting it on the road is seats and hatch and header panel which coworker still has.

So been kinda slacking, but then again I haven't been messing with it. Anyhow I finally got the hatch, fenders, and header panel from previous owner. What sucks, all the bolts im putting back on this jeep is missing so Im having to go to the junkyard or advance and find bolts to make it work.

I went to junk yard last weekend and got new (new to me) very clean front and back seats and carpet and center console. Wind up spending $95 bucks, but it wasn't bad considering all the stuff I got. Also went back to another junkyard and bought some seat belts (the old ones were yellow and black (moldy just like the seats he gave me which I through them all away lol) So far Im probably gonna try to finish all my interior trim and fix little stuff here and their. BUT BUT BUT!!!! wind up getting some wheels. I traded my 37 military tires and 16.5 wheels on 8 lug for a set of 15" fake beedlock wheels and 37 mud tires. So ima try to trade the 37 for some some 31's and boom that leaves me a extra 200 dolalrs in my budget to spend.

Tonight ima go through my papers and see what my total is so far on how much I spent. btw the pics of the wheels, I got them free that will fit my hardbody aka drift truck and their 17'' toyota wheels that are practically brand new just dirty!!!!

So Im going to ride fourwheels in West Virgina this coming up this weekend so wont be able to work on it.

But everythings together now. Seats, carpet, and modified center console.....I just gotta go to the junkyard and pull this headliner that in pristine condition. But I had the itch to go wheelin so me an my buddy decided to take it out on a small trail that everyone goes to.

For a stock cherokee 4 cylinder it held its on other than getting hung up on stumps but I was really impressed. I went wheeling lastnight again with my girlfriend (never went jeepin untill now and I think shes hooked lol).......But I need to add up all the expenses just to keep yall posted with where Im at.

But only thing left now is lift and paint and boom im done, still alot to do but pretty sure the $1000 dollar budget is so attainable.

So, Ill give yall the run down. I about finished up my interior, Still have a few things left over to finish on it but. So far I spent about $190 bucks so far. Counting new seats, seat belts, carpet alot of new stuff

As of last night I bought a set of S10 leaf springs for the rear of the jeep for $30 bucks

So as I see it $170 left on budet for lift

and $200 on paint and body

Still leaves me with $110 dollars left after paint and lift for small odd and ends part.

Ill post more pictures tomorrrow and show yall the progress I have left!

Sorry been busy with my Nissan and Dodge, both of them broke down on the same day so I been more worried about getting them fixed at the moment than jeep, but as of right now I just need to get the front coil springs and Ill start tearing into it. But I finally got the wheels ima use last night just gonna try to find someone to trade the 37's for some 31's....

Ill get some pictures uploaded tonight at some time and the seats that I put in the jeep was just some I pulled out of a junkyard jeep.
