My body guy got tied up late last week so he didn't have time to start on the Jeep. But progress is being made. Should be done tomorrow.

Its in the booth, the color was tough to match, but no match for my painter. He is a good friend and most would have just sprayed whatever color, but he custom tinted some solvent base just for me.

He is working on the flares, they had some silica based product in them that caused some issues, but will be ok in the end.

Those are exactly what I want. Would be a perfect project to learn how to weld.

To me it sounds like a perfect project, and in the end I have something I've built to show for it. I know the basics of welding, my dad taught me oxy welding 10 years ago.

I like it. Defiantly the firmest ride in the 8 XJs I have owned. But it is settling in pretty well.

They are a really nice setup just fold and weld and done. They are simple looking but beefy enough to look right.

I agree with JeepXstreme it's not terrible. I am no good at it as I have tried but it would be hard to mess up a project like this.

You need a strong welder to penetrate 3/16 steel. It's not hard to get two pieces of metal to stick together, the problem is when you go to use the bumper. Whether a pull or a wreck and the welds fail. Yeah sure I could take my cheap buzz box and stick two pieces of metal together. Doesn't mean they will stay. If I were you I would avoid that as my first project, but hey not my life. Just know if you don't get the penetration right, the first time you use that bumper it will just rip apart. Also, don't think I would use oxy welding for a bumper, I'd use either a good stick or mig, maybe tig if you're fancy or that's all that's available. The key to welding is penetration not getting two things to stick together till they're used.

I can understand your concern on this, lets take it to PM's though, don't want to hijack his build thread.

Nice ride, I couldn't ever put Chinese wheels on my vehicle though. Just goes to show how cheap Quadratec is.

Really???? What relevancy does the fact that Quadratec's actually extremely nice wheels built in China make a difference to ME??? ZERO. They actually balanced better than several of the MOABS that I have owned over the years.

He comes from the stanced out VW world so it all comes full circle now.

Out of the booth. He is letting the flares cure overnight.
