Default 2000 XJ 2 door build

So I Purchased my first Jeep a few months ago. A 2000 XJ 2 door, 4.0 automatic for $700. It needs a few minor-ish things before its on the road, then I can really start getting it the way I want it. It needs some rust repair and I need to get it running (pretty sure the timing is off, due to the previous owner trying to replace the cam sensor and failing.) So far all I've done is start fixing rust, cutting the front bumper and removing all the plastic trim.

It came with (I think) a 3.5" lift which I will be installing after I get it on the road. I plan on getting Bushwacker flat fender flares and painting it Rescue green!!!

This XJ is a HUGE inspiration for what I want to do.

That's what it looked like when I bought it, and I will upload some pictures of what it looks like now tomorrow. Unfortunately I haven't taken any pics of the progress but I will from now on! Hopefully you guys will like this build and be able to give me advice on what else I should do to it. I don't want to go too big with lifting it, I'll keep the 3.5" in it for a while, and may go bigger depending on how it does both on and off road. I really don't want to go bigger than a 4.5" lift as it will still be my daily driver and don't want to go bigger than 33" tires, because money...

I've always loved the Bushwacker flat flares and rescue green will look great. Looks like you've got a pretty good starting point as well.

Yeah I'm hoping it will turn out the way I want it, none of it should be to difficult for me either. My dad's owned a restoration shop since before I was born, we have all the equipment and space, and my dad has been working on cars for literally like 35 years, the only setback will be money haha.

That should make it relatively easy then, can't wait to see this one finished!

If anyone knows of a good front winch bumper that's not super expensive that would be a help. I can't find one that I like enough to justify how expensive they are. Also I hate brush guards, so if it has one don't bother posting the link haha. Thanks!!!

P.S. If anyone knows of a good looking rear bumper that would also be appreciated!

Started patching rust. So far all I have done is cut out the drivers floor and passenger rocker, the passenger quarter is patched and the drivers quarter is almost finished.

Got the quarter patches finished this morning, pulled the carpet and seats out to patch the floor and rockers. hopefully I'll get the floor done tomorrow morning and start on the rockers in the afternoon, will post pics tomorrow night! Also, there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity on this thread, so let me know if I should keep posting or if I'm just wasting my time!

So... I guess i forgot to take pictures, also forgot to work on it.... Anyway, I built half of the floor patch and fitted it today, then sold my Lincoln so now I have money to send it to a mechanic to get it running!
I'll try to get some pictures up tomorrow.
