Thanks bobpat it's been a work in progress....slowly. ahhhhh don't thank me. I should be thanking the tax paying citizens. Without them I wouldn't be getting paid.
Yeah I am glad I found something US Spec so I could bring it back without issues.
So this past weekend! It was a blast. Böser Wolf had its own topless day. Not too many went topless because the weather in Germany......well it gets unpredictable. In one day it went from sunny, cloudy, raining, sunny, hailing and cloudy again.
The drive to Böser Wolf had nothing but views.
So we arrived at Böser Wolf and started to unpack.
I think our dog had the hardest job of all.
Saw quite a few UNIMOGs
I didn't get to take as many pictures as I wanted. I was having too much fun out wheeling but I'll post what I have.
At the end of the first day of wheeling it felt awesome to come back to the camp site. Relax by the fire, eat and call it a night.
The park had some old panzer tanks. You could rent and drive.....but it cost quite a bit.
The day after the weekend clean up.....oh wait! It was easy!!!
And a decal of course to remember...

Small update before I go on leave and come stateside for the month of June.
The U joints in the double cardan joint on the front drive shaft started squeaking after my last offroad trip. So I decided to replace the centering yoke and all front U joints.
As for a lift, I've been looking into a basic 4 inch lift to start out with and add steering upgrades as I go along. I have had my mind/heart set on an IRO set up. Recently though I've been looking into Trail Master's 4.5 lift. Now before anyone gets started saying it's a cheap company.
No one really has the lift....
All the "very few" reviews I've seen are positive....
Has a lifetime warranty......
It's prices for a 4 inch lift reflect close to what IRO offers in a 4 inch lift package.....
Every company starts out cheaper until they make a name for their self.....
So unless someone has direct reviews of personal experiences and can sway me away from Trail Master I think when I come to the states this week I'll place my order and have it shipped to my mother's and take it back with me to Germany.
In other news I'm really looking forward to coming stateside. It's been a year since I've been in the states and man do my miss shooting and fishing!

So im stateside for about a month. Feels nice to be home. Just ordered my 4" premium IRO lift. Decided to go with IRO instead of Trail Master. I had to email TM which I got no response about the U bolts. I was asking what U bolts came with the lift, I had to call to ask and the representative wasnt too positive about what U bolts the kit included. After looking on his computer he figured it out and then told me it ships through 4 wheel parts which turned me away! Ive had many friends order form 4 wheel parts and have had terrible customer service.
So im happy I went through with IRO instead and am looking forward to the lift. I spoke with Brent and he seemed more than helpful.

I have IRO control arms, track bar, shackles, and sway bar links. They all are super beefy. I'm in the middle of a front axle swap so I haven't installed them yet. As soon as I can find a decent HP Dana 30 I hope to get it all put back together. Still several weeks out though due to work restraints.
Good luck with your install.

1999 Grocery Getta
So Ill start on a positive note. Came up with a name for the XJ. The Grocery Getta. Fitting because this is the larger vehicle that we own which makes our grocery trips easy.
Now on another note. Has anyone had shipping issues with IRO? I ordered my lift kit last Friday. The money has been taken out of my account, I've not received any type of order or shipping confirmation as of yet and its been a week. I normally wouldnt be such a stickler about this but I only have a week and a few more days until I have to go back to Germany and Im having it shipped to a families address here in the states that way shipping will be cheaper. If anyone can chime in with their experience from IRO I'd appreciate it.

So I managed to get a hold of Brent from IRO. When I asked about my order he informed me that they are holding off on shipping me my order due to the fact that they are on a backorder of 4" lift coils. Understandable, but some type of notification would have been nice letting me know about this.....
Now rewind to last friday when I asked how long it takes to ship Brent informed me it would take 2 to 3 days to ship. Nothing on their webpage stated the lift was on back order nor did Brent inform me it was on back order when I placed my almost 1000 dollar order for my lift kit.
Normally im patient about things like this. But I orderd my kit as soon as I came stateside to be sure id have it in hand before leaving to go back to Germany. When asked about the coils Brent said that they have no time period when the coils should arrive....i then told him I'll wait a little longer but if their was anyway if it came to it that they could ship the whole lift minus the coils to my parents house, and if the coils arent in by time I leave if they could ship it to my APO. He said he'd have to check with his manager........
Ive heard nothing but good things about IRO quality products but man if I knew that their customer service was like this......

I know my thread is a bit boring but man I could use some insight if anyone has any.
I was considering having IRO ship me the lift without the coils and ordering a set of RE 3.5 coils. Ive been reading that the 3.5 RE coils tend to net a total of 4 inches of lift...can anyone confirm this. My leave is dwendling down to a close so I need to figure out something soon.
All insight/help is greatly appreciated!

I am in the process of putting a Rubicon Express 3.5 on my 99XJ and doing full leafs. I did center wheel to fender measurements and will report back what I end up with.
