# 1 rule of sye install. Get the correct snap ring pliers!
# 2 rule of sye install. Cut the dust shield off. Dont bother trying to pull it off.
# 3 rule of sye install. Pull the t-case out!
Edit. # 1 should have been, you will hate snap rings very fast.

I have three different snap ring pliers and I'm still not sure if I have the right ones. None of the ones I have made it easier. Without my wife helping me with a flat head screw driver I would still be out there struggling with it.
Once I realized I needed to boss the dust shield everything was fine.
Probably should have just yanked out the TC, but I'm lazy. Case is all separated ready to get back at it tomorrow after work.
Will definitely be a Harley day tomorrow.

I didn't yank my TC. Wasn't too bad, but I had HD snap and lock ring pliers. Still was a pain, but not too terrible.

Anyone have any tips for removing the F DS yoke adapter? No impact driver, only a big breaker bar, but the yoke keeps spinning on me as I'm trying to break the torque.

Edit: just protect whatever the handle of the pipe wrench is up against to disperse that force.

X2 on this. I used some channel lock pliers since I didnt have a pipe wrench. You might need 2 people to break it loose though. An impact gun makes it a lot easier if you can grab one from a neighbor or friend.

Recovery gear...Hi lift swag...Hi lift, offroad base, roof rack mount, wheel lift, hi lift rubber separator.
Almost have the transfer case completely done, but I ran out of light...Thanks for the help yesterday everyone, the pipe wrench worked like a charm for removing the yoke.
The RTV is curing on the case. I think I'm going to have to loosen and rotate the front DS yoke on the TC to get the front driveshaft to line up. I'm probably going to have to do that with the rear too. Does anyone know a trick for that?

I'm pretty sure you can spin the front yoke on the TC as needed in 2 wheel drive. If the rear doesn't line up and you're on open diffs, just jack up a tire and spin it until the yoke on the diff lines up. You can do this with the front too. But once you drop fluid back in the TC just shift it back to 2w and the front yoke should spin free.

During this process I realized how bad the u-joints in my F DS are. It sounds like sandpaper rubbing together when I rotated the u-joints. Will either be rebuilding soon or buying a matching F DS from Adams driveshaft. I still have slight vibes around 45-50 mph, which I'm blaming on that until I rule it out.
Will have some new pics of the SYE, DS and some new goodies tomorrow.
