1997 Cherokee "Hannah"
Ok, Hannah is not my name, its the name of my beloved jeep. We fight sometimes and disagree and sometimes I beat her a little but she always shows me a good time.
Anyways, to get down to it ill rummage through some photos to find a original picture.
6/19/1997 is her b-day from rolling off of the assembly line in Telido, Ohio.
7/12/2008 is when she got too my front door. I bought this thing immaculate! i mean there was a fresh coat of paint a couple years back with no scratches anywhere, the carpet didnt have a spot on it and the engine didnt drip or nothin. cloth manual seats, manual windows and locks, no cruise control, stock tires and sacked out stock leafs in the back.
started by not spending any money on my jeep... being that i didnt have any. after five weeks of having my jeep it was having a hickup only while accelerating from a stop and turning left for some reason. anyways being that i thought it was having difficulties shifting to second i brought it into Aamco for a "FREE" transmission check. they proceeded to tell me the transmission was toast and it had to be completely overhauled. not knowing much about cars i put my absolute trust in them.
that was a mistake, somehow when it still had the same problem later i went back to ***** at them and then they claimed it needed this
anyways, lets get to the not rip off part, i figured at this point spending more then i bought the jeep for in the first place to repair it i was gonna keep it forever. so thats whats gonna happen.

to get past the boring stuff, i started getting obsessed with going on trips at this time so
i got some 31/10.5R15 Big O Tires
i got a RE 3.5 inch superride lift 4 wheel parts
dont have any pictures of any of this because it was 5 years before im writing this post.
by the time i got the lift and tires and junk done i smashed the crap out of my front bumper so i figured it was time to upgrade. i had a buddy that could get me a 4' by 8' sheet of 3/16" steel $107.
so i put it to use, but first i had to play with cardboard
it was cool, the cardboard worked out so good i kinda just wanted to leave it but strength wasnt exatctly a factor here, actually the sun made the duct tape let go and it turned into a pile of recycling.

after the bumper i spent some good time thrashing it, but then i realized this rear bumper wasnt gonna hold up to much.
so we had a thinking party
i went ahead and fabbed up a rear bumper in my garage in not that much time at all. i cant find any pictures of that but u can notice it later.
after a few trips wheelin and possibly jumping the jeep and flexin the crap out of it, i found this

with the crack gone and my unibody back in ok shape i moved on with spending money i didnt have on my jeep. because my jeep is a daily driver, and will always be i find the smallest problems on the street. problems like this annoying vibration comming from the rear of the vehicle. if you can moved your driveshaft up and down by hand then you probably need u-joints. so i replaced all of them, two in front axle housing, three in front drive shaft and 2 in the rear driveshaft. broke alot of sockets...

so after going on a buncha trips with friends and my soon to be wife i got really irratated about people *****ing and hogging my damn cigarette lighters. so i had to take action... actually my fiance helped alot.
took use of the rear ash tray thats never used
started by fitting a peice of mdf into the ash tray frame
i cut up a tripple cigarette lighter splitter and integrated it into the wood, added a fuse so jeep no catch fire and made sure it did not hit the back of the center console insert.
tadaaaaa
next step, usb ports

so i am really tired of replacing track bars because of screwin up the lower bushings of it or the upper ball joint design that is just, in plain english... a bad design, sorry chrysler.
so i set off getting a Rubicon track bar with the rebuildable johnny joint at the top end. being too cheap to buy a bracket, i built my own.
3/16 inch steel plate was used. hard area to weld with the coil in the way.
cant say my wife didnt help lol
perfect

i know its been a while since i posted an update but I've been very busy, but here we go
i went on a trip to the rubicon for the anutl marlin crawl event and had a blast! it was great, first time ive ever done the rubicon and i only had to winch once. that being said i took quite a bit of body damage, mostly to the rocker panels, and i backed into my father-in-law's toyota truck.
i also was going down a slight incline, probably about 45 degrese and i smacked a rock head on, ill tell you this now, get quality motor mounts! sent my damn 4.0 into my radiator. fortunatly enough there was somebody on the trail with stop leak.
Heres the old and new i went with daystar mounts, but i will say i would never go with them again because theyre product qulity control is terrible, they sent me tach welded mounts twice before they sent me fully finished mounts lol
and because of the bad mounts throwing my engine into the radiator i hasd to resort to stop leak to get me home, it made it two hours of driving home then my thermostat got stuck shut and overheated the hell out of my 4.0L. i pulled over and the thermostat snapped and blew anifreeze all over the side of the road. good thing we had a bunch of melted ice in the cooler! i opened up the jeep...

So after the Rubicon i realized i really needed some protection at my rocker panel area. so i decided to go with something versatile and also add frame stiffeners, im also tired of not being able to open my back hatch when im flexing.
something that would:
allow most ground clearance possible
able to act as air storage for on-board air
something that would not bend no matter how hard i hit it
something i could tie into an exo-cage later on
so i started by taking off the doors, stripping out the seats and carpet, just wanted to make sure i didnt set things on fire while welding, which i still did. lol
found a little bit of rust
good chance for my wife to clean the carpet too! man that thing was dirty

I laid everything out so I could get an idea of what I'm working with, i decided to go with pre-made stiffeners, which i usually don't do because i like to fabricate. These stiffeners i found from Ruff Stuff were pretty sweet and reasonably priced.
here's a link: http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/XJRAIL.html
I actually ended up putting some of the stuff back in the jeep just because of lack of storage space.
