Where can you but new ones at? Mine are getting rust holes on the hump behind the shock in the image.

I don't know anywhere that sells them with the shock perch and coil buckets. You can cut the rust and weld in more metal or if you feel like truly upgrading. Get a full truss kit that has all those included. You can check out ruff stuff to see if they sell the stock set up but I doubt it. IRO sells a D30 truss kit that would replace everything on the axle

My Coil Springs and Shocks Left and Right side.

I oiled them down, Heres the frame after 2 weeks ago of it gotten oiled. The frame was originally under coated before so its still solid and try to keep it oiled every year.

The Hitch from the last year project of replacing the gas tank with a new one and cleaning the hitch down and painting it and oiled it as well. Even repainted the bumper.

I'm lifting the carpet out on the passager side to to see if I need the floor boards. The floor still feels solid accept at the edge where the Inter Rocker panel is and the up'er wheel well from road debris hitting. Their is Moisture under carpet, So i'm leaving it flapped over to dry in this nice 65' day. I'm thinking of removing the entire carpet to get it ready for rocker repair and maybe floor.

I got the passanger side carpet lifted and leaving up to completely dry.
Took off the foot guard and actually looks new under it from what I though it was going to look like.

The floor boards don't look as bad as I thought as well. Just see 2 holes. The hump looks very clean too.

Would the hole just need patching? I have the new set of Inter and out rockers. The carpet is really soaked under it and glad I'm doing this now before it damages anymore. I may remove the entire carpet hopefully today and let it dry out.

Heres the driver side, It looks a lot better then the passanger side. But their was a lot of water and have to soak up the water filled into the carpet padding.

But this side shows no rust eaither, so My Cherokee maybe alright except for small areas on the floor boards. It could of been a lot worse then I though.

Pretty jealous of that...I'm afraid to lift my carpet to see what surprises I have waiting for me under there. Hopefully not to many. That being said glad to see this thread is still going strong, its been a long time since I first commented and the Jeep looks great.

Thanks. The worst I found was the back cargo area, The wheels throwing up the rocks caused a hole and rusted. So the back cargo area may need the floor replaced. Inside frame looks good, Can see inside from top floor.

I am thinking of just having all my 3 vehicles on this page so if you are just following this, it will have all 3 of them.

The updates:

Jeep Cherokee

Has rocker panels finally on, both sides. I made them out of aluminum with only 2 sheets from lowes and bent them my self to fit the shape of my real factory ones witch still need to be put on someday. Just need to paint the aluminum with paint stick and then paint them red. Also got the factory dealer AMC plate for the front of the cherokee, Looks real nice, plus got the Jeep AMC logo badge for the back hatch. And then got the 2001 ICON 16" rims dark grey. Muffler and Catalytic Converter repaired and new ball joints and repaired universal joints, can drive 55mph fine again. I will get pictures when it get nicer out.

Chevy Avalanche

New 8 coil packs and sensors. Nothing else new right now.

GMC Astro Cabover

Removed and Polished the large grill and headlight bezels. Looks really good now. Only thing can do inside during winter.
Took off the stack elbow since it was rusted out.

I think if I am restoring this I will get the GM factory batteries AC Delco, so it can all be GM parts.

Does anyone know if I hooked the hoses up right. I was in a hurry and took 2 of them with me to get new ones. Does the transmission return go to the top of the radiator and the return "cool" on the bottom? If I remember I took them off in order as I said in. The top has a long metal line that come out from under the antifreeze cap. The bottom has a small copper one out of bottom. This is for 1991.

Updates on the Cherokee 05/20/2016

Put on my own temp rocker Panels and painted them. They are made out of Aluminum. I re put back on the original decals on the hatch. And I fitted the 97-01 front door panel on a 84-96 door. It fits with small soft mod. I can still even put back on the original panels if need too without any notice.

Got brand new head lights, New Mopar oil filter for oil change along with Lucas treatment. All new light bulbs for the gauge cluster, Installed 3rd brake light on hatch. And finally put on the AMC dealer plate.

Update for 06/25/2016

I decided to take off the 97-01 door panel "Only did passenger side" and going to just put on the full 97-01 front doors since it has all the guts in them already and found it is easier to put on the door strikers. Reinstalled the metal chrome door mirrors back on the doors too. I also got my overhead console brackets installed and cut open the area for it to go in. Got new fabric for the console as well along with headliner spray glue.

If wanting to follow my other vehicle "GMC Astro cabover" restore, here is the page.
