I had a guy from Orange buy my wheels and tires off my Bronco. He asked about my cherokee and told me that he had more dents in one quarter panel on his 4-Runner than I had in all the vehicles in my driveway. I told him I wanted to go to Big Dogs and he pulled out his phone and showed me pictures of his Runner. He wasn't lying, there wasn't a straight panel on it and he had a picture of it upside down on the rocks at Big Dogs. He told me that some of those trails are pretty wicked! Of course I am not set-up to run the extreme stuff..
Don't worry about your Jeep not being built up. The first time I went to the Cove my Cherokee was stock. They break down into groups based on trail difficulty levels 1 - 10 (a system Big Dogs uses). John Hunt runs Big Dogs, someone else owns the Cove Camp Grounds.
lynskynbnd's Cherokee was my ride last weekend at the Cove. I was the copilot (spotter) because the run was for members of the club vehicles only, I'm an aspiring member. Here is a pic of my Cherokee when it was stock.

John Hunt does own Big Dogs Offroad and he is a nice guy, but as Rockhead stated The Cove Campgrounds are privatly owned. That's also why you pay Big Dogs for the event and The Cove for access to the campground and land use fees. Most Big Dogs trail leaders are great, but sometimes not so much. If you break down on the trail you may have to leave your rig and or get left behind so the others(Big Dogs customers) can get back to wheeling. I know, I got left behind on my first visit there(blown radiator), and I've heard others say they have been left and or have seen this happen. Off-Camber Crawlers NEVER leaves any one behind.

The link I posted above has picks of two stock JK's that did very well on the trails we hit that Saturday. 21 trails in one day! You won't hit that many trails at a Big Dogs event in a weekend.

Punisher, did you attempt to do the OCC 101-201 classes last year? They will be at The Cove in July (19-20) again this year. Check www.offcambercrawlers.com for details.
I'll have them update this page and dates soon.

I talked to John one day in person at an event at Steven Toyota. I have always wanted to go and after talking with him, I knew it was time to give it a shot. I have heard that there are occasions when the guides can be a little sketchy so to speak! John told me that being my first time there, to take it easy, get to know the place and have fun. He said that most guys wheel hard on Saturdays knowing that the parts stores are still open. He said best to under do it than over do it.

I am glad to talk with yourself and Rock head being that you guys have been there and know the place.

I haven't attempted the OCC 101-102 classes, I will have to check it out and thanks for the real world info. I greatly appreciate it..

Thinking of selling my jeep. Need a family vehicle that will seat 5, 3 in car seats.

WADDAPP!!!!

I live in South Arlington off Columbia Pike and about a mile from the Drafthouse. I'm usually flying up and down the Pike, Rt.50, and South George Mason.
