Hey all, how everyone is doing well. Quick question. I bought a Mopar front axle skid plate from John, Jeepsurfer on here, and installed it. Now my XJ's steering, and really the whole front, feels really bulky and heavy. Any jerk of the steering wheel feels magnified by 100 compared to before installing the plate. I know it was fairly heavy, but it didn't feel that heavy. Is the front end supposed to feel that heavy after that install, or do I need to hold off on installing it until I can upgrade /replace some front end parts? I also just installed a homebrew front bumper, so I know that added weight as well. Any thoughts y'all have would be appreciated!
And, here are some newer pictars of my heep. (bumper still needs some cosmetic work and needs d rings welded on and light tabs, also the license plate location is temporary)

The bumper looks good. Yes, that's a lot of weight for stock springs and would make the front end feel funny to you. The stock front skid plate is heavy but doesn't really stand up to rocks. It's ok for keeping sticks out of your engine bay though. My Cherokee had the Up Country Package on it when I bought it so it had the front skid. Eventually the skid got very dented and I got sick of fixing it. No front skid now.

Thanks! I still have some clean up to do with it but it'll do for now. I figured the stock springs might not like the bumper too much, so rustys 3" HD coils are going on the wishlist. I'm hoping the skid plate will help with gas mileage due to actually forcing air underneath the front, but I guess we'll see.

I've got a number of Rusty's products on my Cherokee including rear remote reservoir shocks, cross member, roll bar, leaf springs and other stuff. Good products.

I remember you showing me and my friend all that a few times. Love your set up bud. I'm excited to get the coils, mine has been begging for it for awhile. Does rustys stuff give a decent ride quality?

Hey Dude, didn't know who I was posting with. How's everything, the new job?
I like my Cherokee to ride like a truck, stiff. The leafs in the rear are softening which is good for articulation. My front coils are Rough Country and need to be replaced, one of the coils has compressed about an inch. If you do get Rusty's coils I'll be VERY interested in your opinion of them.

Man this place seems dead from a few years ago! I posted almost everyday until I had to sell my last xj. I'm pretty sure the new owner is on here and local, I still see it weekly( 92, flat tan, stars on the doors). Anyway recently I got back into a cherokee finally (to keep my cummins from being my DD). My new toy is a 98 Cherokee sport, 190,000 miles, bone stock. Wheels, tires, lift and other things were ordered yesterday. Looking forward to seeing some old friends on here.
