Hey, neighbors!

I just replaced my rear springs, and I had bought the Crown OEM style. It's a DD, so no need for anything fancy. The Crown didn't come with the bushings installed, and the rears were a fight, but we won, and the fronts.... the fronts won. We (my son and I) could not get those buggers in. We even bent an 8 inch C-clamp in the process. We managed to oval one bushing in the process, and ding up one end. Not good.

I got on the phone looking for a 4WD shop in the area that could press them in. After striking out a few times, I called a shop (kicking myself because I can't remember which one!) that recommended Manassas Spring & Alignment. I called them, and they immediately and enthusiastically said, "No problem! Bring it over!"

I felt a little better about not being able to get it done at home when I saw them struggle with it using their professional gear, but not only did they get it done, they managed to salvage the bushing, too. And this did all this with a cheerful, 'can do' attitude.

Cost me 50 bucks (half hour labor), but it got me on the road again. That's a fair price for dinking with a, "you messed with it first" situation.


It's a hole in the wall 2 man shop in a rinky-dink industrial area. Don't seem to have a website. Very NOT impressive!

But if you are in need of anything related to springs, they'll treat you right.

GOOD info. Fair price if you needed someone to do them. Working for free don't pay the bills.

I'm doing my suspension this summer. Was going with the Crowns but now I may go with the Dormans which have the bushing installed.

Yeah, if I had known, I would have gone with the Dormans, but.... Now I have seen the difference between Dorman and Crown on the rear shackles, and... if that quality difference holds true with the other products, it's worth paying more to get the Crown. I compared them side by side with the originals, the Crown, and the Dorman. The Crown were the equal of the OEM, but the Dorman were a lot lighter. Poor welds, too.

In that case I'll go with the crown leafs. I've got access to the tools if needed. The problem you had was with installing rubber bushings? I was going to use poly ones. I've used them on all my vehicles in the past with no issues.

Yes, the Crown rubber bushings. I have no clue how the polys would compare.

OK thanks. Polys are easy to install but don't give as much as rubber. Makes for a bit harder ride. So if I drove this thing every day I'd go with rubber.
