The Eastern Shore Jeep Association has a open land tour of their private wheeling land in Delmar, DE (about the same distance from you and 30 min or so from Ocean City. Plus one day they normally have an obstacle course setup at the Pocomoke City, MD fairgrounds. Last year it was a BLAST and would be a cool way to meet some Fellow Jeepers as well as get a little bit better idea what kind of wheeling to expect around here. My personal favorite place to be is on the beach, either down in Corolla or Carova Beach, NC or the MD side of Assateague Is just south of Berlin,MD.

Sounds sweet, but i'm not lookin to go wheelin this week as i still gotta setup my rear shocks, run the ARB air lines, wire in the compressor, winch & roof lights; plus i purposely left out all of my armor & skids so that i don't wheel it without the stiffeners installed!!

This forces me to weld in the stiffeners FIRST cause my 98 XJ Limited has never been wheeled & the unibody is in pristine condition! By not wheeling without those stiffeners will ensure me that the unibody stays 100% straight!!

As for the type of wheeling i like, rocks, rocks, rocks, BUT I draw the line at trails that ensure 100% body damage! I used to be a mud nut but have only snapped shafts in the mud from crazy wheel spin steering lock to lock. This made me install a super 30 kit & truss the hell out of my D30! Check my sig for the short list of mods!!

Would love to get out THIS weekend & meet some fellow VA Jeepers & possibly check out the wheeling from the bleachers!!!

Skids and stiffeners are overrated lol, I use my unibody to help flex lol. It's like free extra suspension travel when the whole thing twists in the middle lol. Unfortunately I can't help any with going wheeling this weekend, I'll be leaving Sat morning for Cleveland to visit family for a week.

Hah, lmao!! Unfortunately my rig doubles as a DD so tweaking the unibody is not a smart move as i usually have my 7yr old son with me who loves the attention that my XJ gets!!

I guess that means my jeep is going to fold in half cause I have no stiffners, or glass, or back half DOing the stiffners is a solid plan.. also plan on doing the front half as well as the rear portion. No good to strengthen the middle just to let both ends fall off.

Hey guys, im gonna be in the Virginia Beach area within the hour, say somewhere round 1:30pm, SO if anyone sees a white 98XJ with a white winch bumper, winch with KC lights on the fairlead, with siver 1-ton steering & solid diffs, KC roof lights, a roof rack with the spare tire mounted on the roof, then thats ME!!! So if u read this reply & see me out there, gimme a double jeep wave!!!

Well after putting 1292 miles on my XJ, I'm finally back home in NY. It was awesome to get spotted (red82) as I saw a huge amount of built jeeps & lifted pickups that made me feel right at home!! Even the cops gave me the thumbs up as I drove by!!

Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet anyone but we had 5 adults & 5 kids so making plans was rough! Made it down to the beach twice but only went on the beach once. I'm gonna start checking out the club forums in the area cause chances are that I may be moving there this fall or winter!!

Thanks again guys for being open & inviting, as ur hospitality goes a long way with me!!

Thanks,
SeniorXJ

Already got that covered as I plated the front end before I put the winch bumper on & plan to tie it in to the stiffeners.

I also have a 3/16" steel rear bumper ready to go in, BUT I plan on running some 2"x4" box steel inside the rails & bolting & welding it all in so that its as solid as it can get. Then ill tie that into the stiffeners also!!

Exclamation IM HERE!!!

Im resurrecting my thread because I just completed my move down here & now live on Redkirk Lane by Lake Edward here in Virginia Beach!!! Im leaving tonight to go get the jeep as this will be the last part of my move. We had to make 2 round trips in the uhaul & its a 9hr drive one way to NY.

I cant wait to get working on the XJ again as I have stiffeners, rock rails, skid plates, brand new rear steel bumper, (front winch bumper & winch is done), & a brand new RockKrawler 3-link long arm kit to go on!!! Tons of welding in this crazy heat but its gotta get done before any trail rides.

I don't wheel unless its with a club or people that know the trails so ill be registering with the local jeep club forums, becoming active on them, & eventually become a member of a few! I cant wait & I hope to meet those of u who have replied & helped out in this thread!

Default VB welcome

I was scrolling through the mid-atlantic section and saw this VB thread. I am a VB local and know my way around here really well. If your looking for places to kick it in to 4x4 then www.Where2Wheel.com has a good amount of wheelin spots listed in this area.

The Jeep club I am in is "No BS Just Jeeps". Its a fun group of guys and we are always making beach runs down to the OBX, hosting parties as a couple of the members have private land for wheeling, and even some weekends of camping up at Shoe Creek if you wanna spend some time on the rocks. Check em out: http://www.meetup.com/jeep-227/

Hope to see you and your XJ around VB, we have a good group of Jeeps around this area.

Thank u, i appreciate that! I haven't been able to start wrenching on my XJ yet which is why i haven't been active on the forums. Still need to wire in the lockers, winch, install the long arms, stiffeners, rock rails, & skids before she sees any rocks. Once i get new tags, i'll prob start showing up just to meet & get to know everyone!
