If you can afford a slip yoke eliminator, go for it.

A full sye requires removing and disassembling the tcase to replace parts.

A hack and tap is simply cutting your shaft down, then drilling and tapping it to hold the new fixed yoke on. It's relatively simple and straight forward.

If you want to keep it cheap and simple but effective, put the cross member drop in.
