Default New to offroad in NJ

FINALLY got my truck drivable, I have been a long time member but had encountered many issues that slowed the truck build.

Anyway, I am in Central Jersey (Somerset County) right in the middle between Stokes and Wharton State Parks. They are over an hour and a half away. My concern is that I have not driven my truck that long of a distance and I am not sure if it will make it OR make it back. It’s a LONG tow if I break down.

Are there any areas closer? I would sort of like to do a “system check” if possible.

What do you guys take with you besides tools and a triple AAA card? I saw the videos of Stokes Park on you tube and it doesn’t look to bad.

BTW I have a 96 XJ 4dr HO Manual Trans with a 2.5” – 3” Shackle lift. I will be getting actual lift suspension next year but this is what the truck came with when I purchased it.

Hey, born and raised in somerville currently in PA. I know there are trails through the sourland mountain preserve area. I dunno if theyre legal or not though. Id look for a redneck kid with a tall chevy and ask them (believe it or not that is actual advice... lol)

Not sure how far you are from six flags but there's some hill climbs off reed rd behind six flags.

I have the dame fears with my Cherokee as well. Guess I'll find out after my first run...

There's some goods hills by six flags. Just need to navigate there properly cause i believe that leads to the naval base that trail

Yup that's the southern end of mills. If you stick with the northern parts along reed road you should be fine.

No ****, I've got family in New Egypt and am down there all the time. If I drive down Reed is it hard to find? Would love to play in that sand.
