Starter went out this week on the way to work. Had to get AAA to come out. Guy tapped it with a hammer and there she went. For some reason I thought it was the battery. Was able to make it home, got a starter on the way. Replaced it the other night. Wasnt too bad. Only thing that slowed me down was the dark and the damn mosquitos. They were BRUTAL.
Now with all this rain, I am noticing that my drivers door is leaking even though the weather seal looks good? Should I just go ahead and replace?
Also, sometimes my AC is warm. Usually it is cool, not cold. Only time its cold is at night or when its raining. Should I just check the level?
And last thing, is there a shop around here or someone who knows XJ's that wouldnt mind looking over the suspension with me? I dont know much about these cars and am unsure of what to look for. I have a wobble between 55-75mph but it is not constant and comes and goes. I want to track that down and fix it before I do a lift.

Or even a badly worn tire....
Suspensions are usually bad tie rods, track bar bolt being loose, ball joints, unit bearings,

Good morning good morning!!!!!
Gary, haven't been by the Comanche...hopefully today I'll be able to get those measurements.....
Spoke to a comanche club member with a late model transfer case and he's using his original yoke (91) on his driveshaft....which is longer than the xj one on my Comanche now...
For sure I'd have to either measure yokes off different xj/mj or just suck up the cost of recutting the shaft

Good afternoon everyone.
I apologize for not posting lately, but I have big news. I mentioned that I was getting a 2000 XJ 4x4 for my daughter. Well...It's here!!!
As a bonus, I bought my XJ back from the guy I traded it to for a civic.
So now, I have a yard that looks like a set for Doomsday Preppers. 2 XJ's, 2 Explorers, 1 TJ, 1 Suburban, and a Civic.
Let the cash hemorrhage begin!

Welcome back. I'll be back in FL tomorrow night. Going to drop my block off at the machine shop Fri, .060 overbore and have the rods, pistons and crank balanced. I need to get back on the trails badly....

Hot Weather driving (Have not been on here for a while). Since we live here all year round. Especially when summer comes. I have some hot weather cooling system questions.
1.) What is the correct thermostat I should be using in these summer conditions?
(I know factory calls for a 195 degree but that is for variable weather conditions)
2.) I've installed the high flow thermostat housing neck.
3.) Just installed a New Fan Clutch
(but my temp gauge stays right around that 210 center mark
if I get stuck at a long RR traffic light it starts to move toward that next temp gauge has mark. Or if I do a quick shopping stop the gauge will run up hotter
My Anti freeze right now is about 60 /40 blend ( instead of 50/50
I have 177K on my 1998 XJ
High mile oil changed normally and did the Auto trans strainer and fluid
Use Seafoam for keeping injection system clean.
I'll use Marvel Mystery oil once in a long while
Please provide me with some solid feed back
I don't off road hear. but I have in Central America (stick 4x4 Nissan Pathfinder)

Check your auxiliary fan and its relays for proper function. Even in our monoclimatic state, 210 is normal operating temp, so it sounds like you have a weak aux fan or relay.
