Hey all, Scott from Glen Ellyn, IL, about 30 mi from Chicago. New to the forum and jeeps in general. Running a pretty much stock (except shocks, brakes, and a sub haha) 97 XJ country, auto 4.0 4x4 . Hoping to get some 30 or 31s all terrain tires before w Inter. Some off roading in the future, but for now it's my daily drive.

Hello,
My name is Johnny and I recently picked up a 99 XJ. I live in the NWS of Illinois, Elgin. Hopefully I get a chance to meet some of you. I am new to Jeeps so I am excited to learn about them, I spent alot of time in the Import scene and am mechanically inclined so I plan on doing all future work.

Alrighty, I'm chiming in from the quad cities. Working on my fourth jeep currently. This one is a 1999 Xj. Bought for $1500.00 . I re-built front axle u-joints and wheel bearings. New tie rod endsand shocks. Swapping out Dana 35c rear end for a$100.00 bought 8.25.

I'm doing all of the work myself. No formal training just a shade tree mechanic. Fabricated front and rear bumpers. Also designed and fabricated roof rack.

Greetings ! I'm a recent joining member, from the Saginaw Mi area. I have a '94 XJ that I acquired in early October. It's in reasonably good shape, but I've spent over $ 400 on it to make myself feel better !
Latest item, which it had to have, was a new(not rebuilt !) water pump. It was a time consuming job. I could swap the transmission in my Malibu in the time it took to replace that water pump !
Anyway, nice to see a bunch of folks here from my part of the country !

Bill, it gets worse. If you have to handle anything with the suspension, it will take at least ten times longer.
Everything is seriously rusted and an impact doesn't help. I had to use a 17 inch breaker bar, and it took me over an hour on one bolt. The next one I sheared off. Man, not enough penetrating oil on planet earth!!
