We live in Ballwin. Anyone in the St Louis area have trail plans this fall? It will be our maiden voyage.....yup, we're rookies. Our XJ finally has its new shoes, wheel wells trimmed, and the RE lift is itching to finally get used. Plus, we're really looking forward to making some friends, since we've only been in the area for just over a year.
Here's a couple pics following this weekend's cuttting & hammering:
Kid hamming it up for the pic.
Passenger's side done. Now on to the driver's side, then sand, paint & undercoat!

Nice! Any plans to get it dirty this fall? Is there a group around the St Louis area who has get-togethers?
Since we're new to the scene, we'd need to take it slow the first few outings...especially since mechanically it's essentially stock. Initial goals are to make some Jeep friends, learn about this XJ, and get out on some trails. I'm sure you all will give us pointers on changes/mods/upgrades needed with each outing. I'm no mechanical genius like many of you, but I know enough to be dangerous, like to learn, not afraid to dive in, and can bust a knuckle with the best of 'em!
This project XJ is actually our 16 year old's....wanted a gnarly-looking, capable Jeep, so that's what we're doing. It's still a family toy though.

Midwest Jeepthing is the local club in the area.. they go down to Sayersbrook and offer new courses... I've been wanting to do the same, but I'm a ways out in Franklin co.. about 45mins away from the STL area.
