Any people around Des Moines? Long time creeper, first time post. Just starting my build..no idea where to start. I've had my 97 Cherokee since 2000. Finally decided to start my build. After going through high school and college in the jeep, its in pretty rough shape. no idea where to start.

Nice. 97 cherokee sport here. bought it in 2000 with 35,000 miles (sitting at 175,000 now). It's no longer my daily driver, and I'm going to start my build soon. nothing too aggressive. Budget is limited right now, so it's hard to decide where to start. The Jeep is in pretty rough shape, back end is sagging pretty bad.

Where do you wheel? I'm from Southern Iowa originally, only been in Des Moines for a couple years.

east side of des moines here.... and posjeep knows his stuff. im still in the buying stage of my build but when its finally done, it will be worth the wait... only problem is, there isnt to many wheeling spots around here. ive only heard of the miobi (make it or break it) has a wheeling area southeast of here.

I drive past MIOBI on hwy 5 all the time. Looks like a good time.

yep, thats the place. although, its still a haul down there. i go down to bussey to ride my quads in the atv park every now and again.... never been to miobi tho. someday maybe....

though a devorce that isnt final yet. but i moved into the house where my shops at and am getting laid off next friday. I think its time to get down on some jeeps again

Well damn son sorry to hear that, but if you want to dig into some jeeps let me know because I am in need of a back bumper and some new tires and as well in giving me a helping hand at tying down some problems on it.

Oh dang... Sorry to hear. divorces can get nasty. At least ya got your shop still. That's a nice setup.

Well, I guess a welcome back is in order.. Haha. Someday I will be putting everything I got on/under my jeep and I know I will need some help... Its gonna be a project! Probably won't be till spring tho... Gotta few more things to get.

I'll be looking to through a lift on after the new year. Trying to get my cashflow straightened out first. Tax season is going to kill me this year, so besides getting the suspension right, I'm going to have to wait until after I see how much I'll owe before I do anything else.

Yeah i noticed. Seems like your a great guy. Reason i didn't have you come down was because i was having trouble scrounging up the money. My stupid ex of a gf was taking every cent i made. But now I'm back up from the gutter and ready to get my jeep going. Ended up just having my track bar welded back together.

P.S.
You wouldn't happen to have any 33 inch tires laying around would you? My tires on my jeep look like slicks.
