good to know, i got some 31's on the way with no lift yet and i am a bit worried about ****ing them up. but if you are good stock i should be good.
especially because all my fenders have been trimmed, you still slackin on the rears?

rusty- a sye is not as complicated as it seems. specially if you have a 231 t-case. Its a little more involved with the 242. I would not let that scare you from getting a long arm suspension. Thats easy for me to say cuz i don't have to drive mine everyday tho. I don't know your situation.

ha ha yeah I would whole heartedly love to dabble in long arms and slip yoke eliminators all day and even venture to make a home made one but the thing is. I am so broke I cant hardly afford grocerys, I am still looking for a job, and I have bills to pay. not to mention that I only have my hand tools up here at school. Maybe when I get some money rollin I will try to make something in the schools machine shop. Oh yeah and I have a 242 but I was thinkin bout throwing in a 231 cause mine makes a clunking noise when shifting into and out of gear and when the tranny downshifts. I think its the differential in the t case but im not sure. I probably shouldnt have done so many brake stands in high school lol but hey the chicks thought it was cool and the dudes were like how come my civic cant do that.

Oh yeah forgot to mention its my only transportation besides the bus

(i should post this in technical)

nah this is a thread thats everything now i think! ah its more on a personal level i think. I have factory gears (3.55) with my 31s and i only know a difference when i drive my stock 1989 Cherokee with 235/75/15s. I think i would run 33s on stock gearing just for the simple fact i do not drive my wheelin cherokee very much if i don't have too. My next tires will be maybe 35s and i probably will get 4.56s just so its somewhat manageable.

O yea. I plan on running a HP 30 and keep my 8.25 in the rear. I need to find a HP 30 for my 2000 and get rid of the LP 30. I will get upgraded shafts for both axles when i cross that bridge. There are ppl running V8s in there jeeps with a 30 and 35 inch tires with out a problem. Just have to use your head when you are playing unless you like spending cold hard cash on new parts every week IMO.

thats a good idea! I hold my breath every time i have to open mine. Im running stock 355s with 31s as well and it works pretty good. My jeep never was very powerful anyway ( probly cause when I bought it the oil was super bad and barely read on the dipstick ) If you need some power just throw it in 4 low and you can go pretty much anywhere you can get traction

if anyone around needs parts for their xj, holmes recycling in Iron (just outa eveleth) has 2 VERY nice xjs sitting there that where cash for clunkers rigs. I have a buddy that works there. Im hitting them up for a front clip and a HP30. Let me know if you need anything by PM and i can check on it for you. Remember the engines are junk. On both xjs the interiors are mint!
