I'm looking for some pretty tough trails to do in my cherokee, but really the only modding I've done is a 3" lift, so anyone know any trails I could do in an almost stock jeep cherokee?

Head up Old Stage Road out of Colo. Spgs. and there are some great forest roads. 379 is a great way to go, should provide some connections to some more challenging areas too if you want. Lots of stuff back in the Pike Ntl. Forest.

The Guide to Colorado Backroads & 4 wheel Drive Trails book by Charles A. Wells is a great resource for wheeling in CO.

even though i'm from iowa, i know of some sweet trails in CO! I've been riding atvs out there for years and years, but next summer i'm bringing the XJ out there as well!! There are trails all over but we usually go up Tiger run road out of breckenrigde or in the buena vista/salida area. I'll try to remember to let you know when i'll be coming out there next summer if you want to meet up and wheel.

There's a couple up here near Horsetooth Resevoir, anytime your thinking of coming up, let me know and we can head out together. My xj is bone stock but can disco the sway bar and the trails are fairly easy with only some light rocker knockers on certain parts like the Quarry.

I really enjoy Black Bear Pass... It's not the most difficult trail but ceratinly has some pucker factor to it. There are so many trails in CO to run it would take you a long time to do them all..

We dont have jack for trails here in OKlahoma..

Slaughter was fun, I made it in my stocker, no bypasses, etc and ran it forwards and back with only light rocker damage. You can check out some of the trail in this vid:
I'm the dark blue stocker on street tires lol...

There's a TON of trails though here in Colorado, have you checked out traildamage.com yet?

Great lookin' trails here. I've posted this question in another thread b4 I ran across this one. Im building a wknd campin/trail rig out of a 99 XJ. My plan is going 3.5" of lift and 31-33" tires depending on fab work etc.

Am I going to be capable and happy on most CO trials with that amount of tire/lift or should I hold out, save up and just go for 4.5". I'm not rich and want to keep it nice mannered on the highway trips, etc.

Thx guys for all the education~

So are you looking for tough trails in general, or I'm assuming tough trails that are meant more towards a stocker?

You've given lift size, but what about gearing, lockers, tire size, etc?
