Default which moab trails should i hit???

I've been planning my first moab trip, & want to test my XJ's limits a little! I figure I'll start her out on a trail rated 3 & work my way up to a (I'm hoping) 6-7?!?! I would like some advice on which trails to take from some of u guys? Now keep in mind I'm without a winch, lockers, cage, & skid plates!!! I'm in a '89, 2dr, 4.0, 4x4, 5" lift, 31x11.5 LTB's!

Sup man? Did you get Charless Wells Guide to Moab yet? Has a TON of good info and most major trails mapped out. HOw hard of a trail do you want to run? Something Difficult but Won't destroyee your Cherokee? Or do you want to push the limits of your XJ?

No I'm prity much just going off of the RR4WA easter '09 news paper/map and a ton of youtube vids! So where can I pick up that map???in moab? Since I've never been there I don't realy have a feel for the trail ratings but I would like to work my way up to about a 5 or 6? I've been 4wheelin as long as I can remember & I'm not to worried about my wheeling skillz I love technical trails!

It's actually a book, about 225 pages long. You can get it at Barnes and Noble for like 28 bucks I think? Very highly recommend taking one with you. It will tell you where each trails starts, ends, and a bunch of way-points in between all marked with GPS locations. A good run that will take you all day and is close to moab is Poison Spider, then Golden Spike, the Gold Bar Rim run together. Makes for a pretty long day. Kane Creek is pretty fun, lots of water crossing, hard to get lost on this one. Sevenmile Rim is close to moab and a good time, Hells' Revenge is always a classic! Dont try the Escalator without another rig there to pull you up just in case, speaking from experience on this one. Honestly, get the book. It will tell you every trail, the ratings, has pics of each trail.

And thank god you have the sense to stay off pritchett, it would eat your rig for lunch. I'm waiting til I get a 44 and my nine under the Jeep this winter, then I'm going to give it hell. I've got a new winch sitting in the garage already. I figure with a winch and full width's I'll give pritchett hell.

Yeah listen to others and get Well's book... it will help you a lot! To give you an idea I have a Cherokee with a 2.5 in lift, no lockers, stock gearing and a winch although I have yet to use it on any of these. Here are some of the trails I have done with mine and recommend.

Seven Mile Rim
Fins and Things
Hells Revenge - Minus Hells Gate and Escalator
Poison Spider Mesa
Strike Ravine
Cliff Hanger - with quite a bit of rocking on ledges
Steel Bender - with quite a bit of rocking on "The Fall"
Elephant Hill
Porcupine Rim
Top Of The World

Also some others that I have done. Most are easier and kinda out of the way. Although some are very scenic and fun as well. Plus they tend to be quieter if you like some solitude.

White Wash Sand Dunes
Tower Arch
Hidden Canyon Overlook into Bartlett Overlook
Rainbow Terrace
Secret Spire / Dellenbaugh Tunnel
Hey Joe Canyon - Don't attempt if you like your paint job!
Long Canyon
Bull Canyon
Hurrah Pass / Chicken Corners - Very cool Views
Dome Plateau
La Sal Pass - good one if you like the Mountains
Shafer Trail - Very easy but the road will blow your mind
Lathrop Canyon
Canyon Rim Overlooks - very easy but has some of the best views of Canyonlands.
Klondike Bluffs

If you sign up on Utah4x4club.com and join they have a great trails section complete with maps. Including Moab trails.
