Default CF's 3rd Annual Bacon Express Run:

Seth an I decided it was time to get a thread going about our trip this summer. Plan is same as last....camp, and run Holy Cross on the 1st day, then Chinamans. Those two trails offer a wide variety, so everyone should be good running them again this year. We had a hell of a lot of carnage last year, so let's hope we don't this year. Let's start throwing some dates around...I'm pretty flexible with time...

For those of you that aren't aware, Holy Cross is a pretty rough trail. 33" tires are a must, as well as a locker. http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=11 We need everyone to have enough stuff to keep themselves out of trouble. Everyone is more than willing to help in any way we can, but at least come prepared. Spending the day dragging someone off the trail, because they had no spare parts, and just so happen to not have any recovery points on their Jeep either, is not a good time.

If you think HC is over your head, then just come and camp, and there will be empty seats for sure. Chinamans is considerably easier, but can have some challenging lines if you want. http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=1

There will be food and drink, and plenty of BACON!!

Last year:

May respectfully suggest that you avoid Holy Cross on the weekends. French Creek turns into a parking lot with HUGE waiting times just to attempt the crossing.

sounds like a blast, but ill be back in school in less than a month. not to mention HC would murder my 3.5in lift and 31in all terrains. I do really want to do chinamans sometime though, that looks like a nice challenging blast.

Yeah Frank, we ran it on the weekend last year. We will be camping the night before, so we can hit it early, and avoid most of the traffic on the way in, but the way out may get interesting...I'm open to taking a day off, to run HC...whatever the general consensus is.

Could I suggest we do wheeler lake then chinamans? This will prob be my shakedown run, so I'm a little skeerd to hit hc just yet. If we are doing hc I will remove my ***** from my girls purse and go!

Wheeler has some good obsticles and has some decent camping. Could camp mosquito pass or some thing friday night hit wheeler saturday, then down to chinamans sat night?

All just suggestions....I'm open to others aswell.

I'm with grolla... I'm on 33s, no locker, and haven't had any experience in my Jeep yet. I'd be down to camp and ride along, just depends on when you guys decide to go and for how long..

Please help me attend... Just don't pick the wknd of August 27th! It's my lil man's bday, and I can't miss. I had to miss last year because of that. Otherwise, I'm down for anytime time in August or Sept.

On another note, has anyone thought of doing Grizzly Lake? Or Iron Chest? I heard those are pretty badass too and pretty close to CMG. I'm down for HC tho!
