Heading up the Alpine Lake trail on Sept 13th, will be meeting my dad and his buddy in Deer Lodge early Saturday morning. They will be on their dual sport bikes. After we hit the lakes we plan in taking forest service roads back down to phillipsburg. All are welcome to join!

Its not dead...a bunch of us chime in here from time to time.

That being said I know there are a bunch of us on here that are in the Missoula area. Still think it would be cool to get together and meet a bunch of y'all at Tamarack or Kettle house or something.

Just got done doing the Middle Fork Trail.... About 1.5 hours away from you in Utica MT. It is an awesome trail man... Cross the river like 20 times in 11 miles then turn around and come back. Couple tough spots (I had to use my locker) if its raining/snowing (sliding on rocks). Tons of mud/water- by far the muddiest trail in MT that I have been on.- Ill throw up some pics later- long drive from Missoula haha.

Sorry for the poor quality- done with wet phones haha. I am hoping some of the other guys came out better.

The trail was closed for 20+ years, opened back up two summers ago.

If you guys make the trip out there, (Utica, MT) You can rent a old forest service cabin for 60$ a night- sleeps about 12 people, built in 1906. Old fashioned- no electricity but propane stoves/beds etc. There are about 20 trails in the area. Pretty nice to have warm beds instead of a tent sometimes.

So this is the start of the Middle-Fork trail... You dive down, cross the creek and climb back up. I had to use my locker going up in a few spots because it was soaking wet rock ledges and pretty steep. You wouldn't need them when it was dry.

You cross the West Fork of the Judith River 28 times on the way in and 28 times on the way back out. Some are shallow and some are deeper.

Yea its a blast! You just have to be careful when you pick to do it--- any early than august and the river is still like 3/4 feet deep and will push you down stream/require a snorkel or cowl intake haha. Even with us it started pouring ran on our way out and the rive rose like 10 inches in 2 hours haha. It is probably number 3 on my favorite list in the Montana area

#1 is the Goose Lake Jeep trail. Its long (we camp at the top), passes a ton of beautiful alpine lakes full of fish, and has some pretty tough obstacles. The trail is almost all rock with a little bit of mud. On top of that, there are like 10 other good trails in the immediate area. By Cookie City. Video done by dirt bikers so they don't really pay attention to the hard/technical spots but they are deffinitly there.

#2 is the Morrison Jeep Trail. It is actually in Wyoming (bout an hr across the border) but very long and you go through some really cool stuff. There is mud/rocks/huge roots/ a petrified forest etc. The only thing that ruins the trail are the switchbacks at the end. You drop almost 5000 feet off the side of a cliff and in a Jeep, you have to back down/straight down every single switchback. They are covered in boulders and in spots there is only an inch or two keeping you from rolling down the whole thing. Going up that side is 1000 times better haha. If you have time, this guy does the whole trail- Start with 1-switch backs-2-3-4-5.

I haven't tried Wild Bill yet though or that one that opened near Bozeman. Both of those are supposed to be fun. I haven't found any that were challenging at all right near Missoula haha.
