Default Help with Cruiser's Tips needed in San Diego

Hey guys and gals, Cruiser54 here.

I received this request via a private mail.

Any of you experienced with my Tips at www.cruiser54.com willing to help a guy out?

Here is the request.

"Hey Cruiser54,

Great website (and book, I imagine!)

I'm guessing/hoping you're pretty networked to Jeepheads around the U.S., so I wonder if you happen to have any referrals for San Diego, CA area for a decent mechanic (or mechanically-inclined person) that I might be able to pay a few bucks to help me with the tips you've listed on your site.
As my power windows, locks and seats are all dying, my interior and exterior lights all seem a bit dim, I'd love to address all the wiring/ground issues you so beautifully layed out - but with my limited experience, tools and savvy, I know it'll take me a LOT longer than if I can just find someone local to help. I'd love to see if that helps any of those issues, or engine performance or whatever!!

And, wouldn't ya know it, rain water is leaking in around the C101 and flooding my floorboard, so I could use help dealing with that.

Also, I can't click "Tip # 33 - Converting to an open cooling system" (which has been the bane of my Jeep's existence with me for 15 years) to open that link on your site. How to get to that?

Thanks again, you've done the Jeep world a great service with your site, and I look forward to hearing back!"

I'm still looking for help with my 1988 XJ. Even if noone available to help out in San Diego, can anyone recommend some shop or mechanic for hire in San Diego that is really Jeep savvy?
S.D. is so close to so many wheelin & crawling areas (deserts, mountains, beaches, MX, etc), I GOTTA think that there's some Jeep-savvy people here somewhere. It's like the 8th biggest city in U.S., so there's gotta be!

I've searched online (Google, Yelp, CraigsList, etc) and not found anyone who seems to know Jeeps as well as people in this forum.

Thanks in advance if anyone comes through with a recommendation :-)

Cant say I know any Jeep shops down your way. If you are willing to go 2 hours north, I am more then willing to help out.

Boy, I tell ya, I'm about ready to do that.
Especially after going to Jeep Dealer and to Off Road Warehouse this morning, and having each of them tell me that THEY don't know anyone in S.D. that works on older Jeeps - and that they don't know where I can get some basic replacement parts (i.e. hood seal) other than "maybe search online somewhere?".

I don't get it. People restore cars from every decade since cars were made, yet Jeep dealers and off-road supply stores don't know where I can get parts for a 29 year old Cherokee (and there were 2.8MILLION Cherokees made over 10+ years)?? Where does one go to find parts for a very common car that's not super old?
For that matter, where do all the Model T and Model A clubs go to get parts for their almost 100-year old cars? 1960s muscle car owners? Etc?!

Again, I just don't get it.

Still looking for someone in San Diego savvy to repairing/improving 1988 XJ......

That does suck. Well if it comes down to it, just let me know. Im free most weekends and have no problem diagnosing and fixing problems for fellow xj members.
