You'll find Jawbone Canyon and Red Rock Canyon both fun. And close. I used to live in Ridgecrest till about 5 years ago. And worked at EAFB for a while... Surely the SoCal gang can fill you in!

I live on Edwards AFB and I have a XJ... its currently not running but meh that can be sorted out! Let me know when you show up. none of my work friend are offroad or car guys so its just me doing it solo. I however believe jeeps are pack animals they want to run together.

I live in west Quartz Hill and have two xjs for my girl and I. Though one is in the shop right now, who knew a lift could create positive castor .

On the east end of the valley is El Mirage OHVP sorta right near Adelante. To the west is Hungry Valley OHVP which is just south of Gorman at the top of the grapevine. Even further west are the Los Padres National Forest trails and they are gnarly.

I've been itching to get out, but we got these rigs 'set up' just in time for 100+ temps .

No one has mentioned Cal City or Randsburg, right accross highway 58 from Edwards. Use to be lots of open desert there to venture in.

If I'm not running on base I do enjoy the service roads and plains out in the deserts around Cal City.

I'm on Edwards AFB, and before you ask I'm not driving to LA again... since well my jeep is dead in the water, I hate driving to LA.

You guys have some awesome wheeling just a couple hours north of you at Shaver lake. The most famous being the Dusy Ershem trail. I was stationed at Naval Air Station Lemoore, Ca. a few years back. I used to go wheeling up around shaver lake all the time...and it's a way cool place if you want to make it a weekend thing and camp out.

Turns out my neighbor is also a XJ guy, but left all of his when he moved. hopefully he can fix that soon then we can form a Edwards XJ group and merge with other local XJ groups and soon fill the desert with XJs! MWAHAHAHAHAHA
