That would be fun; I hope you’re able to hook up with them. Did you bring your camera and fresh batteries? Because you know we all want to see pictures. Yeah I read that you had a slip joint in the front DS that was worn out. Isn't it cool when you guess about a problem you have and just like that! its gone! Last winter when we had all that snow, I had my double cardan joint on my front DS started squeaking and was driving me nuts, I could not tell where it was coming from. So just took a stab in the dark in the area that I thought it was coming from. Went to the junk yard and spent 25 dollars on a front DS, And SHAZAM! It was all better

Brian,
i started taking the rear driveline out yesterday but had to go to work before i could gett to far. i was gonna takeit off and drive around the neighborhood with the front connected only and see if my vibes stop. if so then i may be looking for a new driveline or hopefully a simple u joint. i will definitely check on the slip yoke. i can spin it a little bit either way from wut i remember but i dont think it will move back and forth, but i will check and see. thanks!

Well I started on my rear bumper, made brackets and got the main part on the jeep. Ran out of steel to finish it but got the lower rockers cut off so I can build the bumper as rock slifers

so i pulled off my rear drive line and took it for a spin around the block. the rear end vibration was gone? so i threw the front driveline in the back and it had no vibrations. then i put the old rear driveline in the front and had vibrations in the front. now i am positive the vibration is coming from the driveline. the transfer case seems fine and the SYE seems fine. all the u joints in the driveline are fine, it isnt bent, and no welds are cracked.... maybe the centering kit went bad again?

it looked and felt fine. i think i am just gonna buy a new whole driveline and see if that cures it. and if so then i have a spare driveline for next time.

The double Cardan joint was probably the source of your vibes. Those things are a really wierd animal. They can feel all nice and tight when shaken and inspected but, then make all sorts of wierd noises and vibes when the rig is driven when they start to go bad.

I just installed my front locker yesterday. Gave it a road test last night, all seemed quite normal. Nothing Odd, no pulling or weird sounds. I guess thats the way it should go, Going to try to get out and give it a real test today. I hope

Brian! Thanks for your tips, and did you get chance to go run any trails down there?

Originally, I started out intending to just change out the front brake pads. Never messed with the brakes before, so this was an adventure. Everything was easy and as expected. Took the rotors to Pep Boys to get them turned. After they cut it down, they were under spec, so I had to buy new rotors. Put it all together and everything seems to be working! A little more money than I was expecting to spend, but still cheaper than having a shop do it.

so i decided i would clean my rear drums out since the last muddy mess of a jeep run kind of caked everything. i took the first tire off and found a wonderful sight! my leaf spring centering bolts were sheared in half. this pushed the axle forward and loosened up my u bolts and totally messed up my pinion angle. i was shocked and then looked at the other side. the same story. so i dropped the axle down and pulled everything apart and found my shims to be in sorry condition. i ran down to TCs offroad shop and picked up some new 6 degree steel shims and centering bolts. then when i was putting the leafs back together with the shims i realized that i had lost a bottom leaf on one side... i now have six leafs on the driver side and five leafs on the drivers side... so she kind of sags now. but i got it all put back together but didnt get to drive it to test it out. now i am thinking that maybe my driveline wasnt bad? maybe just the shims messed up the pinion angle? i am going to test it out today.
