Talking FINALLY!!!

I finally got me an XJ!!! It's an '87 4 door base model with the 2.5L I4 TBI w/ 237k miles on it... Didn't run when I bought it but while I was towing it home I decided to pop the clutch while my dad was pulling and I got it going, ever since then it starts up everytime I try... So I paid $250 dollars for a straight, running XJ with mostly stock part and NO RUST!!! Just need to get the right alternator mount in it so the alternator sits right so the serpintine belt won't rub against the engine block... Right now it's being called BIG RED cuz of the red primer that the owner before me put on it

Angry

UGH!!! I went to go get plates put on my XJ today but as soon as I got the money it died on me... I was low on gas so I put 10 bucks in it and it still wouldn't start and then I realized the battery was dying so I went and bought a new one since i needed to anyways.. and it still wont start!!! I had it running earlier today just fine... I also put in some new spark plugs last night and topped of the coolant... So right now I'm in a rage trying to figure out what is wrong, I might have flooded it trying to start it so i'm gonna let it sit for a lil bit... but if i can't get it to start by thursday I'm just gonna take my engine out rebuild it and rewire all the components, cuz right now most of it is ****** rigged together...

Take the filter off and look at the injector to see if it is spraying fuel, (need someone to crank for ya) if not pour a little gas in the TB and prime the fuel line, there should be a cap somewhere with a nozzle, let the air out, switch ign on off several times to make the FP turn...

Is it getting spark, sounds like you have a short in the wiring. try push starting it again, worked last time

There's a place out off of holdman about a mile off of 730 that's a decent play area.

I go shooting out at the spot off of 730 but my place is a lil more in town and it is just really to go out there and party... but anyways I found out the throttle body injector is out... and I found that out after I got a mile from my house and had to push my xj into the wally world parking lot at 2 am and had some random person try to help us for half an hour... does anyone know about how much this fix is gonna cost me???

Try starting it with a the screwdriver on the starter, to diagnose if it's a starter problem or a switch/wire prob.
