Default Changed plans

After I heard the difficulty and hassle it is to swap a bigger engine from the 2.8 I bailed out of that deal. Luckily my it's a good friend of mine and he understood. I ended up buying a 1990 jeep cherokee red 4 door with the 4.0. 5 speed 4.5 lift and 32" BFG mudders with craiger black rims. Came with a few goodies like a cb radio and maglite mount. Rear is locked up but this is my first locker. It makes a ratching sound when I took it home. Oh yea I drove 2 hours to go get it. NOT FUN it was all traffic. I need to change out all the fluids and give it a tune up. not running like brand new but we'll see once I change out all the fluids and give it a tune up. Also leaks from the valve cover and oil pan. oh turn signals don't work. i think it has something to do about the steering column. That's this weeks project. i got to test it out a little but next weekend is definitely going out to reiter pit.

Default One more thing

Forgot to mention it doesn't have a sway bar. The ride home was not fun!

Cool

What? Your road trip wasn't any fun? Are you sure you didn't have a big GRIM all the way home thinking about all your going to do with her? Good golly Jeepers Batman! What a ride!
Sounds like you found a cool ride and it's all down hill from here and then up hill and then down hill.......................and so forth.

Default ride home

True I was ecstatic about the Jeep. Especially the hum of the tires. But it was just a hot day stuck in traffic. But I got to test drive the four wheel drive before i got it in a little off road path. But looks like I'm going to start junk yard hunting for parts.

Good choice on the 4.0l.

I drove my xj home with a bad TPS. It was about an hour and a half. No faster the 60 and if I was slower then 30 I had to floor it to keep it going.

Default Crazy

Damn I though my trip was bad. Your must have sucked. I noticed you were on Naxja. that's pretty cool. i'm trying to get as much information about the xj as I can. I am trying to make a good wheeler as well as a DD. I know it won't be perfect but I want a good medium. It definetily starts with finding a front sway bar. My friend is even giving me the easy disconnects for it. But just need to find the sway bar first. But I want to figure out the whole build. Like gears engine mod and all the good stuff. But i'm going to take it step by step. I'm living in apartment right now and i'm in the Navy so my time is extremely limited and space to work as well. but luckily there is a nice hobby shop in marysville. Just need to find time to get there. They have all the tools and lifts I need. But to the junk yard first. Also need to figure out the turn signal problem. LOL I got my work cut out for me. but plan on going to reiter next weekend. Or walker.

There is a junk yard in the lk stevens area that has several cherokees.

The marysville hobby shop is decent. So is the one in oak harbor.

Yeah I am on naxja also.

Just want to meet people and find out info and find out meets.

Both are great sites. Naxja has a lot of tech stuff. But I meet more people on cherokee forum.

esms06 Where do you live? I am in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island. You really need to get a front sway bar on your XJ if it's going to be a daily driver. When are you heading to Reiter Pit? I will meet you up there anytime.

Default reiter pit

You actually talked to my friend on the ship. But yea I am trying to get out there this sunday but it depends if I get everything done with the xj. i need to get the turn signals working, front swaybar, and give it a full tune up and change out all the fluids. But i am really strained for time. Next week is more likely. My goal is to check out as many spots in washington before I go. Like Elbe hills, Evans Creek, Reiter pit, Walker Valley, Naches, and Tahuya before Jan 1st. Also trying to get my Cb Radio working. it has one installed and it turns on and everything but it's not reading anything on the channels. The guy said i need to recalibrate it. I don't know what that means but I don't think the atenna is set up right. I don' t want to go there not prepared. I also have to check out the brakes. oh I'm in everett, wa. that's were i'm stationed
