Exclamation body armor

So i have had a few wants for body armor. Id like to see if more of you would like some and i can rep some sets. Also the more steel i buy at one time the better the price i can get.

So rear quarter panels are what i am looking to make. They will have rub rails and protect your tail lights. Price on line for a set is $350 i can do them for $250 and they come painted black. I will post a pic of my own desighn tonite.

I would reccomend ditching the stock tail lights, boxing in the back, and putting in some round LED lights like this. The lights are installed in a rubber ring so even if I backup into something they will just push in. Plus they look pretty cool and are very bright. I think the rub rails you see on rear quarter plates are there to help protect the window. I installed these plates with carriage bolts. I have door plates cut and a some new doors to put em on and will post up pics of the installed door armor as soon as I am done.

How did you wire the lights? I have some like that and can't get them to work.

You can still run that type of housing with my armor. Im more concerned about keeping the quarters from getting beat up. I plan later to make some housings . One project at a time tho.

I just cut off the wires going to the existing lights, put some connecters on em that fit the new lights, smeared some dielectric grease on em (waterproofing), and plugged em in to the new lights. For the lights I didn't use I just removed the bulbs and left the sockets dangling back there. I have heard some people say they needed to get a better blinker relay to make em work but I didn't. If you keep having problems just let me know and I can snap a pic of my wiring for ya.

I was only suggesting to do it all at once as it makes for a much cleaner look. I started with just the plates and welded the light boxes on later. A friend of mine did it all as one piece and I think it looks much better. I have wheeled many super tight trails and hit the plates hard and gotten no dents. They are made from 3/16 plate. I've lost a couple windows from roots but I dont think adding bars on would have saved em.

You need to go out and get a heavy duty blinker relay.

I seen a set on a xj that protect the factory light housing. Im going for that. Also helps keeps the orice to a min. So that possibly more people can afford me to make them sets. All tho who wants a set that has a metal housing built in?

That set happens to be made by ORF fab. They make some nice tube bumpers also. For what those cost I can make a complete exo-cage, not include labor! They sure are proud of there rear quarter panel/light protectors.

The material for them would cost roughly 80$

Hey oxen! How do you plan on making the cuts for your quarter panels? Laser, grinder, saws-all, plasma? It's pretty time consuming to make nice smooth identical edges with anything other than laser!

I plan to drill lines of 3/8 holes in stead of lines. The mill i have will make quick work of that. I could slot them with it but to drill a simple pattern will suffice.

I'd like a set but can you ad a second rail at the bottom of the qp gaurd and drill out more holes like my ugly mock up for a 97+ XJ? And how much? Early-Mid April work for you?

Hey where u at in Covington? I have a heavy duty flasher if u would like to see if that is the problem before i go spending 12.99 on one. And im good with electrical and can take a look at it if its not because of the flasher.

over this week i will for sure have some temps made up. i priced ou the plate and am waiting on a call back on a price for a order of pipe i inquired about.
