I dunno why he said to drop the fuel tank to get to the pump. We were staring at it last night while we took the fuel filter off. ANYWAY, just ordered the pump and it should be here in a few days. Gonna pop that out, change it and we'll let you guys know if she starts runnin' again.

I'll be a master mechanic buy the time this is over. HAHAHAHAHAHA

Ive just never done this before , and im getting 5 ****ing million different answers for my questions , from you guys , the parts guy( which im not ****ing with ne more..) , freinds who have jeeps, tow truck guys and yada yada yada so on and so forth ..one person says its right the other says its wrong . This is MY FIRST PROJECT, EVER...so... lighten up a bit , im here to learn and do it right.. FIRST PROJECT < FIRST JEEP<AND IVE HAD IT FOR A WEEK. the condecending lil jabs are not neccecary , were all grown here.
Not trying to be a dick or anything , but no one likes to be talked to like they are retarded , im not an idiot , just new and learning , and having a lot of fun doing so
thanks to all of you that have been helpfull with out the jabs , much love to you guys ..

That being said, We have the pump on order , and it will be here friday .

Is there any where that I can maybe get a step by step or a walk through for removing the pump from underneath , with out dropping the tank ?
Do I need any special tools ?
Any other sites I could maybe use as a reference ?
Is this a common enough problem that I could maybe do the step by step with some photos to help out some other jeepers in the future ?

OH , SIDE NOTE --- i removed all seats , middle console , and the rear carpet .. there is a lil rust hole under the passenger back seat that i think is the source of the water / air tightness.( sorry for the lack of technical terms ) .. questions about that are as follows:
1. would it be feesable to use some sort of calk or something to seal up the lil holes(no bigger than a cigarete burn , 3 of them in a lil cluster ).
2. I want to re insulate the floor , could i use standard stuff for say... carpet at home(if so , what would i place underneath it to keep it water air tight ) grab a roll from home depot and trace and cut as needed ? or would i need to use some sort of automotive insulation to do it right , just want her water tight and hopefully a little warmer and quieter.

thats all i got for tonight , thanks again for the help

If its the same design as the 93 and up tanks (I dont think it ever changed), there will be a ring with tabs that locks the pump/fuel sending unit into the tank. I would recomend using hard wood, plastic or anything that will not create a spark to tap (pound) the ring around counter-clockwise to line up the tabs and unlock the ring that holds everything in place. Then unhook wires and fuel line and switch them to the new pump, and hope it was the problem and starts. Luck.

A helpful tip, and where i have gotten most of my info from, is www.jeepforum.com

Not trying to boast another jeep site but the info on there is freaking insane, its like the dictionary for the jeep over there!
