Crazy8............ Sounds like your upset.
I got upset too this weekend when I was fixing a transmission cooler leak.(4th one)...... I got so mad after cutting my thumb on a flare I just made, smashing my elbow, distorting the 3/8ths tubing with a cheap piece of crap flareing tool I bought, wich I already had but I bought another one and didnt know it until I got home.....
I simply stopped, went inside....... took a shot of whiskey.......took a nap.
Woke up..... and said to myself STEP IT UP!
Went outside and finished...... and now I have no leak.

I don't think the balancer is all that different from many other engines' balancers, some are much worse requiring as much or more cussing and specialty tools.

Years ago I threw around curse words when the repair was getting the best of me. Tossed a few tools and scared the kids. As you get older and have lived through a few of these man against machine battles, you tend to mellow out and not go nuclear when a bolt snaps or you can't get a part off/on. Hang in there crazy8. You won in the end.

Somebody ****** up on that whole process! Why in the hell do I have to torque that sonofa***** harmonic balancer off and torque that sonofa***** back on? It has a ******* KEY for chrissakes! WTF is the point?!?!?!
Not only that, but why do we have to torue that GD bolt back on to 130 ft/lbs.... FU whoever thought that kind of crap was necessary... Get a grip!

My vulgarity was intended to be humorous and I apologize to those whom I offended.
As for me not being 'smart' about all of it was simply not the case. I bought a Heep that was worked on by a dolt, and this was actually the only non-smart thing about any of it, that I bought the dang thing...I didn't have the time to nitpick the thing when I bought it, and I should have walked away from it... At the time I bought it, I had a few hundred bucks to put into it and I was excited about working on it because I hadn't worked on any cars for a few years.
The rental tools from Autozone were damaged and I barely managed to get them to work and I had to fight the hack-job of the previous owner. All of this in about 1/2 sq ft working space...
I managed it, however, and it runs a lot more smoothly now and without the tick tick tick ticking of the old and frayed belt.
Cheers and happy holidays!

The first day was spent trying to fit the new belt in such a way that the damaged balancer wouldn't eat the belt. The balancer was too far gone to work any more. I rode my bicycle a few miles to the part store 2 round trips.
It took so much time because had to a bunch of extra stuff that surrounded the deal.
My next project is painting I can't decide between flat black or flat OD and black trim. I will be like that shadow that crushed their mama's Cadillac...

Not to be argumentative, but I give points for knowing about the "GD". It's not a large crowd, that knows what those are and where they go.
