is there any chance that something broke off and hit one of the sensor wires?

did you check both O2 sensors? made sure the exhaust manifold didn't get ahold of some wires?

you don't have spark, that's definitely the coil. but if you damaged that in a trail, i wonder what else you have damaged.

Sounds like a bad crank position sensor. Can you verify, if you have spark, fuel? No spark = likely bad CPS, but check anyhow, if all ignition related wires are connected properly (plug wires, coil, distributor), and all the grounds are good. If you have no fuel, likely, the fuel pump went out. I don't know the procedure for a '91 Chero, but if you could pull stored engine codes, you might find the culprit quicker.

im pretty sure there is a write up on it but you are gonna need wrenches and about 3 ft of extension and a swivel and it helps to unbolt the crossmember so that you can lower the trany to reach the two bolts better, ive never seen a sensor placed in a worse spot

You'll have to get under the car to get to it. Something else you could check before you do that are the fuses and relays in the engine bay fuse panel/power distribution center.

I have... the CPS on my old Taurus SHO. You have to disassemble half the engine to get to it.
