Wiring diagram for radio, speakers pwr antenna
OK does anyone know what colors go where on an 1989 xj coming out of the dash? I have pwr antenna and 6 speakers and there are about 15 wires coming out from where the radio goes. I figured out the front 2 speakers, ground and constant hot but there are lots more and I can only get a click from the pwr antenna relay. Thanks...Tj

Blue is the power antenna.
Usually the striped ones are for the speakers.
In the 1989 XJ I used to have, I just cut the plug off the harness on the Jeep and then matched the colors with the wire coming out of the stereo.

Sweet diagram. If you go to Advanced/NAPA whatever, you can buy a new wiring harness which should be able to help you eliminate all the speaker type wires, leaving you with just the power antenna and ilum/dimmer wires.

hey trekker you already cut off the factory harness? if you didn't what you need is a harness adapter from autozone, wally world, anywhere mostly and it'll adapt the standardized car stereo wire colors to most any vehicle. Its much better than hacking the factory harness and figuring out what wires go where. http://www.crutchfield.com/g_103000/...p=736&skipCS=Y
