step 4 are on bottom side of coloum one each side,step 5 top of column after bolts loosened/removed

I went out and pulled my lower dash panel so I could take this picture for you. This is on an '89 but I think they have the same column, maybe freegdr can confirm.
Remove the small panel [green] by pulling it downward (no screws) then remove the two large nuts [yellow], I think they're 17mm or 3/4 inch... something like that. With the nuts out, you should be able to drop the entire column and have access to the ignition switch.
As far as your transmission leak... don't panic. 99% of suspected transmission leaks turn out to be nothing more than an engine oil leak that's blown back onto the transmission.

Can't pull that lower panel off. Something is holding it in the middle. I am going to take a pic. You gave me instructions, where exactly do I go on here to upload? Do I upload in this message?
