I need the passenger side, front window regulator for a '98 Jeep Cherokee Sport. The motor itself is still good, but the cable in the regulator is shot. Dealer only has complete assembly with motor and the price is way up there. Local parts dealer price is better, but still high and also includes the motor. E-Bay seems to have some available at a decent price, but I'm not sure which of those are new and which are salvaged. I'm guessing that if I could find the regulator only, the price would be much more manageable. I'd prefer to have a new replacement, but if worse comes to worse, I'll go with used. Does anyone have any suggestions for sources?

Is the cable shot, or is it the plastic piece with the teeth, and the teeth are ground down therefore not catching on the cable?

Find a garage or parts-store that can order from the Dorman catalog... you can get just the regulator.

dude go on ebay they are there all day long for about like 40 bucks or so or go junk yard hunting

Try checking out this window regulator dealer page. I think that link would not lead you directly to the cherokee's but you could just try browsing the pages.
