Will a 96 cherokee XJ 4.0 engine fit into grand cherokee 2002?!? need urgent reply
need to know quick i might be able to buy a grand cherokee 2002 for very cheap just needs the engine! and i have a 96 cherokee xj all dented up with a bent chassis sitting in my yard i wanna know if i can swap the engines and how hard it would be

I don't think so, the block castings are different. I tried a 96 xj block for a 99 wj and I had no where to mount the engine mounts. The holes are different. Unless you come up with a way to use the xj mounts in the wj. Thats probably why you can buy it for cheap. no one seems to have these engines around. If you find one, you are lucky.

Don't Grand Cherokees have a V8? I really think there will need to be some serious modding to do that. Let us know if you do it!
