Wasn't poking at you. You made a correct statement using years and motor. Like i said it's when people make blanket statements like "all Jeeps" or "All XJs". Page 1 or 2 of this thread. I just think reading threads about the pcv question is funny, just like when someone asks whats the best oil.

Does replacing the CCV remediate any other problems i.e. rough idle, etc...?
Has anyone that has replaced this component noticed an increase in overall performance?

There won't be a big difference in performance. If your grommets are old and brittle, you may see an oil leak there that you can fix by putting in new grommets. Also, if your ccv elbows are clogged, the could cause blow by. Putting new elbows in will make that not happen. Also if your ccv elbows are old and clogged, you may have a problem with emissions and passing a sort of emissions test (at least here in California)

If the CCV system is restricted and it can't deal with the volume of blowby in an engine it could cause an increase in positive pressure in the crank case. Which could increase oil on the air filter, any oil leaks to leak more, blowby and oil leaking out the dip stick tube. Just to list some.

Yes, it will affect the idle if compromised.

Renix Vacuum Harnesses

The vacuum harness that is closest to the air cleaner, EGR etc, and is called the rear harness, is Napa part number BK-715-1366.

ok. I got it! no pcv, ccv. My jeep is a bastardized wheeler, i'm getting oil through the oil fill cap and all over the hood. Where does the rear line run to on the other end, and is the 4 way block at the end of the fuel rail (front of engine) do anything or is it just a union point? I find I have to add oil after a wheeling trip even though I'm not leaking, just blowing past the oil fill

it does sorta, I have everything from the 6 way block past missing, I have the large hose from the front of the valve cover to the block then to the air box, and the small hose from the back of the valve cover to the block and nothing else going nowhere and only those 2, none of the other vacuum line and none connected to a source

My 89 shows a listing for a PCV valve here at NAPA, but my engine is a 92 and has none in it, not even a listing. I would like to know how the oriface tube setup works, I had some moisture in my dipstick tube and my crankcase pressure must have went out of wack, making it push oil and choco-milk crap into my air filter. Would it be a bad idea to put a pcv valve in there to prevent that?

As stated several times in this (and many other) threads, the I6 4.0 uses CCV, not PCV, regardless of what the parts computer says. Check for a clogged orifice (it's just a hole, not a valve) on the CCV elbow as that would cause oil on your filter.

I must have skimmed over that. I was just confused as to how it does its job, but I think I get it now. Which elbow would have the vent? I am missing it aparently
