where can I get a print out of engine codes?
have a 1992 cherokee sport 4.0 ho running rough, loosing power at times bucking and jarring and missing at times, only does these things while excelerating for some reason, check engine light is on but dont really know how to check codes or where to get the codes sheet. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Search this forum. You'll find exactly what you want.
Its turning the key back and forth without turning over the motor. I don't remember the exact sequence, so searching will be your best bet.
You'll also find a list of things that go with each code.

i went to a local place cause my check engine light was on, and they gave me a reading and printout for free. i beleave autozone offers this aswell. just have them print out the code for you.

the post you sent me is way awsome......its gonna be a great help. but one question.......what is the proper way to get the code by turning the ign. switch? is on off on off on or what?i have never done this so im not sure what im doing. lol

turn the key on off on off on then leave it in the on position wait like 5 seconds and it will start giving you the codes. your best bet would be to buy a book for the jeep at an auto parts store, they are cheap and really help out when you dont know what your doing. the book lists all the codes and what could possibly be causing them. it even tells you how to check all your sensors with a volt meter if you have one so that way your not having to spend a bunch of money replacing stuff thats not broken.

You can't do what you did with most OBD-I vehicles.
