I have a 92 XJ that had a 96 motor swapped in before I bought it. The guy said it has an "aftermarket ecu". The wiring is a hot mess. Half the time, I the fuel pump won't turn on and I won't get a CEL for start while cycling the key. There are random relays all over the place. I was told a factory wiring harness would be the best bet. It looks like they kept the harness from the 92 motor and just hacked it together. I'm guessing the PCM is also original. Any ideas as to where I should start? Pics to follow. I need all the help I can get. I've tried everything and at this point, I'm basically beating my head against a wall. Any ideas or resources on parts would be great. A friend willing to help me with this nightmare would be even better. I'm in the Chicago burbs. The ecu's are different between those 2 engine years and the one for the 96 would need to be used. That along with the fact the 96's were kind of a "Step Child" yr. as Chy. started changing different things through the model yr..


I'm not qualified to help you with the wiring issues and sounds like you have a handful. CC Ken and Cruiser 54 both can comment with more knowledge. But more info from the seller would be very helpful in the process.
