Water Pump Replacement
I just recently replaced my radiator last week and saw a leak. So I thought it was a hose and now I had someone look at it and its a leaky water pump 
They quoted me $252.10!!!! WOW 
Anyone have a write up on a water pump replacement. I am not much of a mechanic so could I do this myself??

If you replaced your radiator, (Actually did it yourself?) You can definitely handle the water pump... it's really easy. Don't get screwed out of money because of the labor prices mechanics charge.

Yeah I did it with the help of my friends dad. Do I need to remove the radiator to do the water pump?

No. You don't need to remove the radiator. Just the 2 fans, the p/s steering pump and the hoses. I have a bunch of pictures on what to do. I can't post them right now. I'm on my way out. But could do it later today. It's not a hard job at all to do. If you didn't already, it's a real good time to change out your t-stat and hoses. If you want cheap parts, check out Rockauto.com. That's where I get my stuff. Sometimes, if you print the list of parts and bring it to your local Autozone or which ever parts stores, sometimes they will match the price.

Like stated above, it's not necessary to remove the radiator to change the water pump, but I put my new pump in when I was putting the new rad in, and it made the job SO MUCH easier. You have like zero access with the rad in. removing that and the AC condenser in front of the rad (And front trim panel and everything) gave me so much more room to work with. Took me like 4/5 hours to do both and remove everything.

You can't go wrong with that set of directions. I thought I had more pics but I only have a few.
A few things to you may want to consider when doing the water pump.
All new hoses including heater hoses, bypass hose and radiator hoses
Definately get the inlet tube that screws in to the new water pump.
It's recommended to change the t-stat at this time. I would also change the housing as well. They're know to warp and sometimes crack.
I only use Felpro Gaskets
Obviously run new coolant. Don't reuse unless you have super low mileage or just changed it recently.
I changed everything listed above when I did my pump. The parts were cheap enough and it will save time in the long run for the little extra that it does cost. I don't like doing things twice so I do everything the 1st time.
Here's a pic of the pump and you will see the inlet tube connected to it that you should replace. These normally rot out.
Replace the t-stat housing. Normally about $14.00.
Quick view with the parts out
Change your hoses
You don't need to remove the power steering pump entirely from the Jeep. You can just set it aside.
Just a little tip. When you go to reinstall the power steering pump, make sure you set the wire back in this slot where it belongs. Made that mistake once.

Probably charging approx 2-2.5 hours labor avg $65 per hour $162.50
Price of the pump $44.00 (shop price)
Price of the coolant $14.00 (Shop Price)
Disposal of old coolant (EPA) $6.00
Comes to $224.50 plus tax. Not sure what your state tax is. And it also depends on the labor rate of the shop you brought it to. But it's not that crazy. I can normally do these in just over an hour. Sucks you're not closer, I'd help you out.

I stand corrected. It is called the inlet tube not the bypass tube. There IS a bypass hose that does connect to that. So I'm sorry for that confusion.
The inlet tube can be found at most parts Stores. I got mine at Carquest here in Jersey. They also have them on the Rockauto.com http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php website where I get most of my parts. Dorman Part # 56398. Price $6.39 plus shipping. They stock them and normally get them in 2 days here. You can check for parts on Amazon.com as well as long as you know the part number.
