Test to confirm. Good data = good decisions.
A simple compression test would most likely tell the story. Also a good "snapshot in time" of the internal condition of your engine.
Having low compression numbers on two adjacent cylinders is most likely a blown head gasket.
Spec compression for the 4.0 is 120-150 psi, with no more than a 30 psi variation between cylinders.
