vibrations over 60+ mph
Since I've recently having to commute on the interstate now for my job, I've noticed something that needs to be diagnosed. After I get on the interstate, about 60 mph, my 96 xj starts shaking terribly. Since the vibrations are so bad, I can't tell whatever side it's coming from. I know it's not the tires out of balance because after it shakes for a minute, it stops until I accelerate. I have no idea where to start and any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

OP we need more info about your jeep... do you have a lift? or anything at all that could be changing your drivline angles?
there are many many things that can cause this problem but in order to get the most response to your questions we need more detail lol

Man I have had the same problem with my 2001(stock no lift) for the past 2 years. I tried new tires, didnt work. balanced driveshaft, did not work. All new U joints, did not work. New spring that holds the drivshaft firm, did not work.
BUT, take the front driveshaft out, its very simple only 8 bolts with like 8mm wrench and see if it is still keeping the fuss. Mine rides like a dream when I take the front driveshaft out.
I have taken this jeep to 3-4 #1 mechanics in eastern NC, and no one seems to have an answer. I had man the other day guarantee me that the noise is coming from my t-case. I just have hard time believing it and here's why.
If you noticed that front drivshaft spins when in 2wd. but when you take it out, the yoke on the t-case continues to spin (i think!) so therefor I dont believe its the t-case, but the yoke at the front axle doesnt spin when driveshaft is out. Thats why I believe its the front end. Im thinking there is a bearing or something gone out in the front end or the ring & pinion is set at the wrong depth.
Anyways, I just take my driveshaft out for the summer season and put it in whenever needed, like i said, it only takes 10 minutes.
But if this sounds like your problem and u fix it, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

when my jeep did this... i found out that the wires in my tires went cause a real bad vibration put on another set of tires if you can to see if it stops if it does presto problem found

Ok more info:
Stock heigth
Recently turned rotors (no difference)
New rear monroe shocks
New tires, all 4 re-checked to make sure they're balanced properly
Everything else is stock on the car.
I dont have a computer at home or else id post pics. I just use my phone's internet. If u need more info just ask

Give some more information about when the vibration happens acceleration, steady, deceleration, only above 60 MPH, 60-80 MPH... Maybe it will spark some additional suggestions.

I have been having similar problems. My friend thought it was my auto locking hubs, but I am almost positive Jeep Cherokees don't have em. I tried changing out one of my front tires, and that seemed to help, but now it's getting bad again. I have also noticed it starts vibrating when I accelerate (around 55-60 mph), and will stop if I let off the gas.

well I started to notice it whenever I hit about 55 to 60 mph. After I get going at a steady speed, it will stop until I speed up or slow down

Ever use fix a flat?
Trac Bar(bushings, angles, bolts), Axle Mounts, Tie Rods, Caster Angle, Control arm bushings, Steering box bolts/spacer, Frame(cracks in frame could make steering box feel loose), Damaged steering stabilizer, Bad ball/u joint, drive shaft not balanced, bad front hub, idler arm.
Check those.
