Default Vacuum leak question???

My "89 has a leak under the front bumper,i can hear it when running.Only the defrost works, and i know it's in default mode from the leak.My question is about the brakes. They don't work very well, will the leak have any affect on the brakes?Or are the brakes pads/shoes more than likely worn? The pedal is smooth with no pulsing or grinding and also has no leaks.Any help would be great.

Fix the vacuum leak first, then pull the wheels to check the pads & shoes.

The vac has nothing to do with your brakes. You can fix the vac leak with electrical tape for a temp fix.

Default Please help on brake problems!!!

I just got an 88 Jeep and I am having problems with the brakes, I was told that I might need a brake booster but I want to make sure on how you check to make sure it is the booster. When you push on the brakes it shoosshhs like the other guy was saying. If I do have to buy a booster how much are they and can you refer me to somewhere cheap? Already put 500.00 in it and can't even drive it. Please help.

start it up pump the brakes and then turn it off and pump the brakes it should get harder
if it was already hard the the booster is bad or your vacuum line from your booster to intake could have a leak
if its kinda hard then you might have a leak somewhere else thats bad
