Default Turn Left, Jeep dies...

Weirdest thing has been happening lately. Going around left-hand turns only my jeep will shudder. Sometimes die alltogether. A quick flick to Neutral and turn of the key and she fires right up again. Also seems to shudder going over bumps like gravel road washboard. If I get on the gas hard going around the left turns it seems to power through the shudder but it is definatly still there. I can feel it with my "butt'ometer" also my tach jumps to nil and back. Any ideas?

Start by checking the grounds to make sure they are all clean and secure. I had a S10 that was doing the same thing. On a hard left turn or when hitting a pothole it would pop the ECM fuse and kill the truck. Turns out there was a ground under the fuse panel under the hood. The retaining nut for the fuse block had backed off and the ground was under it. A good bump would cause it to break ground and blow the fuse.

on my 99 xj that would happen to me too. i would make a sharp turn and accelerate and it would cut out, not die. i ended up replacing the whole fuel pump assembly and haven't had that problem since.

How much gas is in the tank? Mine does that when it's really low.

I too have the same problem. 2000 XJ with 4.0 engine. Only does it when I have about 2 gallons of fuel in the tank.

^^^ thats because you have a low level of fuel and when you turn or accelerate hard all the fuel is sloshing around and not being sent to the engine.

X2 stop Go turning hard on low tank on some xj's do that. I noticed it after putting a aftermarket fuel pump in.

Only make right turns. Is it only the motor that shuts off, all other electricals OK? could also be short in the steering column.

Fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator. I had that problem and just replaced the entire fuel assembly. My buddy just replaced his regulator and it fixed his.

check your fuel pump relay.

thats common problem when the guts break loose inside the relay.

That could be one of the problems. Do you have tilt steering? or it feel loose? maybe the ignition switch needs adjustment

Wow, I posted in Jan.
I was about to go purchase a fuel pump when I thought I would check some grounds again. I started the Jeep and reached for the big negative on the block to give it a wiggle and my sleeve brushed the thin wire at the botom of the distributor. It has a molex connection approx 6 inches from the distribtor and that connection was faulty. The wire vibrating around left turns would short out the distributor. Some brakecleen and zipties and all is well. Thanks for the ideas though. I should've posted up what happened earlier, sorry guys.
