Default TRUCK PULL???

Ok my college is having a little sled pull. I was really thinking about entering my jeep. I have a 94 XJ with 33's D30 up front and a CHR 8.25 in the rear. I don't have any gears or anything. I am not looking to get a full pull or anything i was just wanting to have a little fun. The sled for the light truck class (which i am going to enter) is only suppost to weigh like 2500lbs. My question for you guys is do you think i can do it with out destroying my jeep. I really dont care if i only go like 10 ft I just want to make sure I am not garunteed to blow it up. I am going to make sure that the weight on the sled isnt to excessive before i do it.

Thanks alot and keep the replies nice.
I will try to get a video of it and post it if i decide to do it.

Don't enter your Jeep. The frame/unibody can't handle the weight of a pull like that which is really stressful on your frame at the start of the pull. Alot of jerking and you will pull right through the unibody rails.

Don't DO IT!!! If you're only goal is to go ten feet what is the point of even risking it? If you wanna show off your cherokee to some truck guys take it off road and watch them try to keep up haha

I pulled one of those BIG **** tractor tires once, and I mean once, it weighed in at 1400 pounds and it was quite a hard thing to pull.... to this day I swear I hear creaking and cracking all over the place after that, not to mention my tranny temp jumped 50degrees just from pulling that thing 150 feet...

the only thing you should be pulling with a jeep is a hummer :-) hahahaha

seriously don't do it....

I agree unless you have a true frame you should never pull like that. Just to much stress on the unibody frame.

your uni body is a sturdy enough platform to do some heavy pulling but it sounds like all of your driveline is WAY to weak if you have a stock trans and running gear they will blow out under a load like that i.e. snaped axles, blown ring and pinions, grenaded transmissions ect... dont do it with out bulldozer running gear!

i would do it in a heartbeat, just make sure your rear hitch is tied in good.

chances are your tires will start spinning in the mud long before you start breaking

I wouldnt risk it. If you want to keep your jeep running for a long time stay away from bonehead things like that.

Default Why not?

People hook their xjs up all the time. Your jeep isn't going to self destruct. Odds are, you will lose traction long before you could do any damage.
I dunno what all these guys are scared of, just put some frame sriffeners in and send it. People jump these things ffs.
